Howdy folks,
Borlon is returning to his "flock" on Torsh. When he left, for clerics of Ra, third level spells had been online for some time, with fourth level spells hopefully due soon. With nearly 1000 followers, Borlon has his hands full dealing with these people. Do any other Nereganti (Egyptian) clerics want to go to Torsh? There are still dozens of unexplored portals, plus the spells, treasures, and mysteries of the K'Thoi empire to uncover. What's more, Borlon is fairly certain there are portals from Torsh that should lead back to Oerth, perhaps by way of another world.
Anyway, please let me know for sure who is going to be on Torsh and who is coming back to Oerth. Keep in mind that horsemouth IS an issue, so Finn, Tia, etc might need to return to stay alive (or get at least one cure disease per day for the rest of their multi-century lives...).
Known folks on Torsh: Borlon Nefra Lucky Sabrina AhzmodeƤ Analu Alef-Thau Moonleaf Rowan

Before Borlon returns, perhaps with Zarabell's help, Gwen would like to discuss with him the portal that leads from her island to Torsh. If ALL portals are once again working, she would be concerned about the influx of lizard men to her island. To be clear, she is NOT interested in this being a freeway for PC's either...but, after spending MANY months on Torsh, I'm sure Aris wouldn't mind returning. My theory is that Borlon & Gwen can come to a working agreement that if the portal works and we can figure out how to use it PROPERLY!!! then we can have a safe way to get back & forth to Torsh. Aris will be happy, because he can explore that creepy world, Gwen will be happy because she will be on her island, and Borlon could have an "easy" way to return to Oerth when he needs to (so no charges off staves or other magic items). Anyway, it's just a thought Since I remember distinctly that the ONLY reason the PC's and NPC's could not return to the island is because Jon's character tried casting spells on it and it "broke" (had they waited, it would have been fine). Let me know

Howdy Kari. Thank you for having your character initiate this (although David knew about the portal, Borlon did not). He would like to do some recon of the portal from both sides -- might be worth a ONE NIGHT game. Borlon would be more than happy to put some wards on the portal on "his" (Torsh) side if that would make Gwen feel better. Having a way to easily move from Oerth to Torsh is a big deal for him and he would be happy to contribute to achieving this. He does warn you that if this is a two-way gate, then it is possible that it might be used by more than lizard men. On the other hand, if it's a one-way gate, then it might NOT receive from the same location it deposits, but somewhere else instead.

I think exploring this portal would be a definite benefit to all concerned. Gwen certainly does not want the island overrun with Lizardmen...again! lol I'm assuming this is something that would interest Aris as well...heck, access to the ancient K'thoi empire?? I think Aris gets wood at the thought...hehe.
I completely understand that the portal may not work the way I'm assuming...I just remember that during that original game the joke was that if Jon hadn't broken it, it would have brought everyone back...I understand it may be more complicated than that...it's certainly worth checking out.
Since Borlon seems to understand more about the portals on Torsh, Gwen would like to have a discussion (including Aris, of course) about Borlon's history with the portals...or Gwen & Aris could even take a trip to speak with Omar Tariff (or whoever on the plateau who is most knowledgeable about portals....they did live there for many months...while this wasn't role-played, Gwen is certainly not a wallflower, she would have tried to meet the "powers-that-be" on the plateau).
What would Borlon suggest as the next step in finding out how to use the portals...what has his experience been? Is there a pattern to follow in the portals (colors, time frame, etc..)? Does he have a recommendation as to who would know the most on the plateau?

Aris would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have a chance to continue exploring Torsh, while maintaining his ties with Greyhawk. Keep in mind, the boy is still suffering from horsemouth, as is Nicholas.
Gwen would know that Omartariff is the mightiest mage in Old Neeshfall. That said, Borlon cliams to have more extensive knowledge of the portals in and around the plateau than the mage. Although Borlon has not found any corrolation (yet) between portal colors, times, etc, he DOES have a trick that allows him to bypass most of the nasty side-effects...
Borlon suggests that Gwen allow him to examine the portal on the island. If he goes through and it turns out to be one-way, then the worst that happens is he's "stuck" at home again. The idea is that when he returns (with Nefra, Khefriseniset, Sahara, and Maatkaure) to Torsh, he'll try to get back to Oerth. If he doesn't make it, then Gwen knows it's a one-way or chain-connected portal. Once Borlon has figured it out, he'll make contact (since he DOES want an easier way to move from Torsh to Oerth and back!).
Make sense?

Analu would like to return to Oerth, but obviously horsemouth would be a problem. I'm assuming that Alef-Thau is not susceptable to horsemouth; his current body came from Torsh...heck if it did, then he'd just make a new one.

At least for a while, Adama will join you on Torsh. "Since Treblo can now do a regular circuit of the worlds (and still owes me BIG TIME for that spell book I gave him), I can hang with you and Borlon on Torsh for a while, then come back and spend time with my mother and brother."

Nefra isn't going to leave Oerth until he can go in search for his sword. So, I'm hoping this will encourage Borlon to help him find his sword. (and David to find a module to run)

Yes, Nefra's gift for winning the Pantheiad was to be told where a holy sword of Ra was. He isn't leaving Oerth until he finds it.
