Hi all, Just because I am the sort of person I am, I've made it a mission to do do research and find some pictures of true XX/XY Hermaphrodite. Anyhow, here's where you can get it: members.roadfly.org/andy02/other.zipJust cut and paste that into your browser window and away you go. Password is the inn the new heros is staying; proper case with no spaces.

Well, Trillion has the option of being a mosaic hermaphrodite...

Openly unconventional I may be in some ways; my curiosity is far worse.
It's all in the name of uh...science, that's it.

Honey,
What was the difference between a Mosaic hermaphrodite and an XX/XY?

As I recall, a mosaic can have certain traits which are fully female and others that are fully male (although I believe a fully functional reproductive tract is so unlikely as to be impossible). So, for instance, a mosaic hermaphrodite could have lactating boobs but otherwise be male.
Make sense? David

I'm mostly male so I would say he has a normal sized penis, but also has a vagina, no boobies or nuts though.

Trillion doesn't have any plans to have kids so I'll pass on the fertility clinic.

Purely informational question...aren't most true hermaphrodites sterile? Or is that a myth?

Actually, Kari, you are correct. Think of it this way...
If a mosaic hermaphrodite was analogous to a car, then...
Men are hondas
Women are fords
The mosaic might have a honda engine, ford brakes, honda electrical system, ford battery, etc. In all likelihood, there will be incompatibilities, any ONE of which renders the whole reproductive system inert. Now, it is theoretically possible to get just the right set of parts, but I believe this is fantastically rare (hermaphrodites represent 1 birth in like 1500 [Kleinfelter's Syndrome, I believe]), so one with all the right parts in the right place would be one in a billion, probably (my total guess).

As with most things biological...
It depends.
Hermaphrodites can be from 90/10 to 50/50 each gender.
You can have XXY or YYX or XYXY chromosomes.
Some of the genetic combos lead to sterility, some do not.
