The heroes explored the island/city of Grandel for several days, making friends with Miranda a cleric from Oerth, Buck Tallfellow the owner of Land's End Tavern, Faeleen the dark elf, and Inan the mage while waiting for Pigñolé to arrive. When the bardic gnome did arrive, he did so in style, having befriended and impressed a band of al karak elam. After Inan and Faeleen joined the heroes (and Verna bought a newly hatched fire drake), the party spent a day experimenting with the dark elf's spell jamming dragonfly.
Then, on 616/11/6, the group took off for the region around Mount Shalkar in search of rock trolls as potion ingredients. The first two days were largely uneventful, but on the third night, the group located a cave full of rock trolls and only just BARELY survived. Everyone proved useful, from Cindari the swordswoman to Inan the neophyte mage (he embedded a sling bullet in one troll, seriously messing the monster up). Ziyi and Torr battled quite well and Faeleen managed to save Marc (poor beastmaster). Somehow, Pigñolé managed to drop one troll and even fought on (to impress Faeleen) although badly wounded.
The party limped to the rendez-vous site, but encountered a will o' wisp en route. The creature got in the heroes way many times, but ultimately gave up. Finally, weary-but-victorious, the party borded the craft and Miranda flew them back to Grandel and some much needed rest...
