After dusting themselves off from the battle with the bugmen, the party searched the bodies for loot; Pigñolé finding several items of note. While the group waited for the paralytic toxin to wear off, the gnomish bard investigated the new treasures. Unfortunately one turned out to be a cursed scroll which summoned monsters to fight him and his friends...but at a place where the gap between worlds was already weak, this had additional repercusions.
The centaurs had mostly recovered by this point and were able to do battle with the summoned foes. Unfortunately, a medusa turned their best warrior, Blue Belle, to stone. The heroes managed to defeat the rest of the lot, including a green slime, a gray ooze, a minotaur, a bugbear, etc. One ogre magi managed to evade the group by turning to gaseous form. Ichi and Ziyi attempted to levitate after the creature, but it drifted beyond the circle of standing stones, now wreathed in eldrich fire as a result of the summoning. As the acrobat and monk crossed the circle, Ichi vanished...
Ziyi back-tracked to where the monk had disappeared and she too blinked out. Torr, watching the whole thing, called the rest of the party together. All but Pigñolé levitated up, with the gnome trailing on a rope.
And in a moment, the heroes were no longer together, no longer at Tovag Baragu, and no longer on Oerth.
Ziyi, Torr, Verna, and Cindari found themselves falling into a warm ocean. Working together, the group reached shore after passing a whole archipelico of small islands. They were now in an orchard-like forest of oaks, asters, maples, birches, apples, pears, and other fruit trees, perfumed with the gentle and heady scent of many blooms. Clearly the wood was wild, but the climate so gentle that all these trees thrived together.
The heroes explored a bit and decided to head to the highlands in the distance. The temperature remained warm, with gentle showers each morning and evening. The night sky was ablaze with stars and the Milky Way was much larger and brighter than at home. At the same time, Cindari grew nervous, for this world clear lacked any moons at all...
The group hiked for three days before encountering any resistance or any animals larger than a squirrel. On the third evening, Ziyi head laughter in the distance and soon found herself face-to-face with a dryad. The tree-nymph took a liking to Torr and charmed the paladin, but the three female warriors in the party forced the dryad to flee. With some quick thinking, Verna got Torr to accept a suggestion from her, allowing her to magically combat the wood-spirits dweomer. Then, qwaffing half of Torr's potion of polymorph, she assumed the form of a giant eagle and the group fled the woods entirely for the safety of the hills beyond. On the other side of a large river, the heroes rested.
A day an a half later, the group was attacked by five perytons, but quickly defeated the lot of them. This attracted the attention of a lone human traveller, Marc, who started to journey with the party. Despite a lack of common language, the stranger got the idea that the heroes were seeking a human settlement and agreed to bring them to somewhere called Grandel.
Another two days passed uneventfully and then Marc brought the group to a gnome community where they spent the night. All seemed well and the gnomes quite friendly, until Verna made it clear that she was a clerical spell-caster. At that, the friendly gnomes politely-but-insistently asked the party to leave.
Another full day brought the group to a small human community on the shore of a great bay just as the sun set. The heroes entered a bar where Ziyi become quite a commotion once she revealed her half-elven nature. Soon afterward, a bystandard brought the group to the home of a power wizard, Marius Celeborn.
Marius explained to the group that they were on Maneä, a world very different from Oerth. He was familiar with their world and even knew of a mage from their planet which visited Grandel occasionally. Marius explained that clerics are not welcome on Maneä because of all the strife their religious wars had caused in the past. Moreover, no one knew what an elf was, much less any human-hybrids. Clearly, this was a very different place from the lands the heroes were used to!
Marius, after becoming quite irritated at Ziyi, did manage to locate Pigñolé and have some of his friends bring the gnome to Grandel. While they were waiting, Marius suggested that the group go to the main island-city of Grandel and get to know the people. Their friend would show in up the Land's End Tavern in a few days.
But what of Ichi...?
