On 616 / 9 /15, after being rescued and brought to Dragondale in Amberwood by the witch Rhanée StrongArm, the heroes had seperated into two groups. One, lead by Elijah and included Ziyi, Pigñolé and Dion, searched for the baron of Amberwood. The other, composed of Claudia, Kristoph, Meagan, Billi, and Ichi, waited at the Temple of Bahamut.
The first group walked up the road from the Temple and entered the administrative complex of the fief. There, Elijah encountered Black Robe who healed the group and offered his aid in battling the forces of the Elder Elemental God. Later, the group appeared before Princess Robyndella (who was in charge while her father was away); she agreed to hear their issue over lunch as it was not a secular matter. Joined by Prince Malok and his friend, TC, the Robyn listened to Elijah's concerns and agreed to contact her father, Moorak. Meanwhile, Elijah was welcome to stay in the palace; word would be sent to his friends staying in the Black Oak Inn.
Rhanée and her acolytes completely healed the second group of all injuries, including Ichi's broken knee, Kristoph's cracked skull, and Billi's broken ribs. The high-priestess, however, insisted her neice and nephew return to Klarr instead of continuing. Meanwhile, Torr arrived and asked about how the group was doing. After recovering somewhat, most of the heroes also went on to the Black Oak Inn. The idea was to divide magical items, but since Elijah wouldn't be free until the following day, the heroes simply rested.
Early in the morning of 616 / 9 / 16, a paige arrived at the Black Oak Inn, telling the group that the Baron of Amberwood would see them know. When the heroes reached the palace, they found Baron Moorak Drake, Rhanée, Black Robe, Elijah, Torr, Robyndella, and Malok in the audience chamber. Moorak explained that Elijah would not be able to accompany the party back to the Temple of Elemental Evil, but that he, Black Robe, and Rhanée wished to offer what aid they could to the heroes' endeavors.
To this end, Moorak noted a series of dweomers on most of the group, which Black Robe quickly removed. Moorak then identified most of the group's new magical items and cast stoneskins on them (along with Malok), while Black Robe offered them goodberries and healing herbs. At this point, Torr asked the party if they wanted to come to his investment ceremony at noon; it would seem, in exchange for a vow to practice Gold Dragon with Ziyi, Torr would be receiving his paladinhood soon after all!
Rhanée also revealed what she had discovered questioning the two prisoners as well as used a speak with dead on the head of the leader. The group learned that there were many factions in the Temple and that they bandits guarded a secret entrance into the lower reaches of the Temple.
At noon in the Temple of Bahamut, the group assembled (minus Dion) to see Torr take his vows. Afterward, the young knight left to comtemplate his new resposibilities and abilities, while the other heroes journeyed to Magic Mountain to test their new treasures. In the early evening, they returned and were joined by Torr in a celebration. There, Moorak and Torr introduced the party to Faeleen, a good drow mage/cleric who had offered to accompany the group. Because few in the party had ever heard of a drow, Faeleen managed to join the group fairly effortlessly.

A quick search of the tower revealed nothing other than that rats had been feasting on the corpses.
The group decided not to go straight to the bottom of the Temple, but rather find the other entrance the captives had spoken of. They headed off to the Temple proper, but were ambushed en route by another group of bandits laying in wait. The battle was fairly short and very one-sided; the heroes quickly defeated the brigands and continued on. They did almost a full circuit of the Temple before finding the shattered stained-glass window with spikes and rope. First, however, the group encountered and were driven away from the magic runes on the front doors of the Temple.
Using the levitation abilities of Claudia, Torr, and Ziyi's boots, the heroes entered the Temple via the broken window and searched the entire upper-grounds of the Temple complex. Then encountered a series of minor mysteries, as well as three staircases. Finally, their search complete, the heroes descended to the first level below the Temple....
