i don't know. they're new to me. i've been in 3.0 and 3.5 way too long and i haven't had a lot of experience with these creatures.

something simpler... we're the low level party that just got sucked into another world. spell casting is limited and i don't know, we're not familiar with all of the creatures on the planet or they'll look familiar and then do something totally out of sync with oerth's understanding of that creature. any strategies you would recommend? i don't think we'll find that gem or sword (or that the DM would grant us those items )

Flour. Throw it on the Ogre Magi so that when it turns invisible you can still see it. Cutting off its head tends to work well...

You know, Jeff is right. A great way to at least foil an ogre magi (one of MOST favorite monsters) is to toss some flour or other substance on it AFTER it begins to fade invisible so as to minimize the effect of the power (for one round, at least).

Flour is great Artec has a couple of "Flour arrows" he made. For just an occasion. It only goes about half the distance. But it does work, as long as you hit.

Massive damage helps too - they're only 5+ HD. Usually... If you run into any Gozu-Oni I suggest throwing your money at them an running.
