The scene is the Green Griffon in Greyhawk. It's a full house with many frequenting the adventuring tavern. Among the crew is the Iron Baroness, Sir Caeleia Drake of Angel's Rock, her granddaughter and other family members as well as a few retainers. They begin speaking with Baelaman, recently freed from captivity among the giants. That's when the amazon walks in and things get weird...
First, a wave of magic spread out and suddenly, no one could communicate.
Then, a second person crashed a globe on the floor and suddenly everyone dissolved into a brilliant, rolling rainbow fog.
Now ethereal is when the sleep spell hit, taking out everyone but Baelaman and Ciara (thanks to a witch charm). The nine year solidly clocked her assailant a couple of times, but Baelaman charmed the leader who slept one of her own allies. The other, however escaped with Tristan and the party followed to the Deep Ethereal.
Although the whole party entered the Deep Ethereal together, they didn't stay together. On the other side of the Turquoise Curtain, the Baelaman batted the strange monk-mystic, although his sword of ethereal matter proved largely ineffective. Tristan turned into a leopard and attacked, but didn't like the flavor of kidnapper. They finished off their foe and Baelaman sent his charmed victim home.
The party crossed the Turquoise Curtain back to the Material Plane. Unfortunately, Ciara struggled initially and Tariq went back to look for her. Unfortunately, she caught back up while he did not -- he returned to the mortal world a day's journey to the West of Greyhawk in the Gnarley Forest. The rest of the heroes, meanwhile, returned near the heart of the Cairn Hills, more than a week's travel to the East, Tristan reveals after a quick flight.
The group makes camp and a gnome shows up. He befriends the party and brings them back to his own camp where Tristan reunites with her brother Benji while Pak, Bruce, and Cain join the group.
