The heroes (Ichi, Wynd and Thundr, Kyron Drake, Conan, Flint, Dajamira, and Baelaman) regrouped outside again, tending their wounded. That’s when the howling began…
The massive pack of dire wolves began to chant and answer an invisible "Mistress", howling and slathering. They charged to attack the refugees, soon joined by a flying hill and stone giant. Wynd started unleashing arrows and with Conan and Daj's support, quickly had things in hand, which is when the horde of giants charged first from one direction and then another. The elven archer-ranger traded missile fire with a pair of hasted stone giants a lived to tell the tale, in part due to his mirror images. Ichi stormed into the first waves and slew the majority in just a few strikes, but he hadn't recovered from the previous battle. The giants remaining focused on Ichi and a lucky shot killed the monk, though Flint and Conan avenged him. The ranger's arrows and half-dryad's lightning bolt took out most of the second wave of giants, but not all. Now alone and clearly out-matched, a handful of female giantesses and young fled as ghouls arrived and were mopped up.
Among the foes were a phony "Chief" who lead the giants into battle but disappeared when the fighting began. At some point in the chaos, Dart caught a glimpse of someone fly invisibly among the prisoners and liberate the gnome, shortly after which the illusionary foes ended.
