I just wanted to share my favorite reading material over the last few years. Yes they are all in the same genre but I do love epic fantasy with a gritty flair to it. Anyway here is my list and I hope some of you read them and enjoy them as much as I have.
Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook. It's a 9 book series with 1 spin off. The first book is "The Black Company" My favorite characters are One Eye and Goblin. Also Soulcatcher is one of my favorite baddies.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. Four of the books are out in a 7 book series. The first book is called "A Game of Thrones". So far my favorite character is John Snow and his companion Ghost.
The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. It on book six out of ten. The first book is called "Gardens of the Moon". This is by far my favorite series. I got so attached to the characters I got all Teary eyed in book three. To many favorite characters to name in this series. David if you need a jump start pick these books up.
Anyway these books have kept my imagination going strong while away from gaming with you all. I do hope some of you have read them or will pick them up.

Thanks, Jay. I'll check 'em out once the quarter ends. I could use a couple of good book about now. Unfortunately, during the semester I'm usually too busy reading text books to have any time for anything fun. In fact, I'm going to be PERMANENTLY shifting the Thursday night game because I've signed up for another Arabic class (my day class is more academic, while this one is more verbal/conversational).
The last series I read, which I REALLY think you'd like Jay, is the Bartimaeus Trilogy. They may SEEM like kids books at first, but they're much more grown up that Harry Potter (which I do also like). Since you play Katya, I think you'd really find Nathaniel and his world interesting. And I could see you really liking Bartimaeus. The first book is called "the Amulet of Samarkand"
Another good series, again more for adults than kids, is the Amber Spyglass trilogy. I read that just after we got back from Fiji and got the new house and devoured all three books. The first is "the Golden Compass". Again, a series which you, Jay, would particularly enjoy...!

The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan is EXTREMELY good. Start with New Spring: A Novella. Its the prequel to the first book, The Eye of the World. One problem with these books is they are slow and are extremely long.
