The heroes (Joshua, Viktor, Gilgamesh, TenBears, and Cormac) retreated back to the relative safety of the mausoleum twice before finally deciding to hunt the ghouls directly. Using Viktor's skills and abilities, the group identified three packs of ghouls and proceeded to wipe out each in turn. Gilgamesh employed both of the wolves to aid the group and ultimately, Viktor and Joshua saved one of them. Joshua's skill with the shield made quite the difference as he was able to shield both Viktor and one of the wolves from harm. Cormac and TenBears, meanwhile, used missile fire to wound and confound the undead.
After about two hours, the group manages to establish a relatively safe-zone around the graveyard free of "roaming" ghouls although Viktor and Gilgamesh got badly chewed up in the process and even Joshua took some damage.
