The party (Flint, Waseem, Joshua, Isra, Jax, Rowen, Jeru, and Jamal) continue guarding the vaults of the Sultan of Gana in anticipation of his son's wedding. The second day passes largely uneventfully and that evening, the chimney begins to heat up and finally burst into flame. Jax tries to put it out with a create water but the fire returns, so the druid of Traala uses a dispel magic which reveals sand which had been invisible and burning without light. Isra detects chaos and locates SOMETHING that Joshua can see with his detect invisibility. Jax unleashes a faire fire and Flint catches the thief in a web when she tries to slip into the vault with Isra. Jeru hacks her once, but ultimately Isra calms down the theif, the Sultan's daughter, Ali'a Jamila. The wise woman gets the girl to promise to not steal her grandmothers ring in exchange for Isra's help revealing "the truth" about her soon-to-be-sister-in-law.
The next morning at breakfast, Isra questions Aziza of Umara, learning little from the guarded young woman. Joshua reports that her mind could not be read. From Ali'a brother, Ghassim, Isra learns that the young prince had sex with his bride the night they met and many times since. This is unusual for Zakharan culture, particularly to admit such an event. With Waseem's help, the party enlights Waleed, Waseem's father, to speak with the Sultan, who has the Imam of Haku commune to learn the truth. It turns out that while prince Ghassim is under no spell, he was magically manipulated in some way. Sultan Yusef calls off the wedding, breaking Aziza's heart and enraging Ghassim. Isra is promoted to court hakima and Waseem is given a commission in Gana's (merchant marine) navy. Flint and Jeru are accepted as Englightened and the heroes teleport first to Muluk, where Kara, Joshua's mother, transports the heroes to SeaHaven in the North Province (Scottish lowlands), where the heroes use the Amberwood gate network to reach Klarr.
