It seems to me that by reading the boards about recent games, there is a lack of death. Do parties get killed off once in awhile? When has there been a good old quest for a resurection? Am I wrong? Is David getting soft? Are PC's harder to kill with the newer rules? Is cleric killer banned or has it used all it's charges? Does Ray still die almost once a week? Is he taking it for everyone else? My inquiring mind wants to know.

Looking back, the last person I remember dying was Ezeki He will be sorely missed.

Ok David. It sounds like the Cleric Killer must come out and show it's true power. Either that or just run them through giants.

You do recall that David Ott had the cleric killer entombed in lucite nearly 10 years ago? For a while, the world was rather magic-rich, and even those struck dead were often fed a potion of healing fast enough to avoid ultimate death. The Apocolypse did change that somewhat, however, and such supplies are a little harder to come by these days. So, there have been deaths, but perhaps not quite as many as in the past. And there are still many bad-reincarnation limp-alongs that decorate the landscape. My favorite was Jyoli returning as a tall skinny human with fangs and a thirst for blood...she got better though. I'd point out that also on the 'Halls of the Dead' adventure, from some perspective, EVERYONE died. Or at least returned to Oerth as the living dead, animate but skeletal. Tyris=Flare is one of these...still stuck on the Island of Abydos in the middle of a balmy tropical ocean.

I still have my bad reincarnation...Formerly a Crat (Taagar, specifically) Fighter/Cleric who was killed and then reincarnated as a depressed Bugbear...she's still a cleric/fighter, but now she's on a perpetual suicide watch...her innate survival instincts keep her from running herself through, however she keeps saying things like,
"I'm more than willing to go take on Iuz. All by myself! No, really, I can do it, and I don't need back-up...or weapons. Aw man, please don't tie me up again!! You know, I can chew right threw those ropes, you may have to cut my throat!!"

I do remember the cleric killer being entombed ( I helped steal it ). That was a great day for clerics everywhere. Ok so maybe I was wrong and people do die now and then. I do feel your observation about the magic rich world is true. When under level 5 characters get back up after dying is not uncommon, things need to happen.
I do like bad reincarnates. Arie the badger ( once a Slyph ) is still out there doing who knows what. LOL I also miss when we had to beg for a rez and then have to wonder the planet trying to figure out how to do some impossible task. Right Slee!!!

we've had some serious crits and -7 through -9 moments that weren't detailed in every session write-up. we've lost Ichi to another plane/planet(?), Kronk was killed in the whole shadow demon debacle, and then Kronk suffered a somewhat humiliating reincarnation.
don't be downplayin' our games...you weren't there.
