Heroes: Ryder the Rogue, Seraphina the Witch, Maxine the Fighter, Cyrus the Sorcerer, Pavo the Mystic of Nog, Two Rivers the Totemic Warrior, Kryos the Warsmith, and Jason the Cleric of Hades
After the group recovers in Klaar, Andar and Kephalonia look to bolster the ranks of the party with a much needed cleric and someone to take damage. They find Jason, a cleric of Hades, and Kryos, a warsmith looking for possible training under Rhom. After the party rearms itself, they are sent back to the entrance of the cave network by Kephalonia. They follow the same path back and when they reach on of the larger caverns they had previously entered, they find a group of fresh ghouls. Ryder notices one familiar ghoul and feels terribly guilty and sad. He had failed another companion as he looks at Uyrk slathering before him. The party also notices the other ghouls are all fresh orc ghouls turned by something smaller. Vowing to make it right, the party takes out the ghouls with Ryder taking out Uyrk. He then mourns over the loss of the small creature and asks Jason to do last rights. Jason agrees to do it, but later, after the mission. Ryder sets the small creature aside,crossing his arms over his chest. Steeling himself, Ryder leads the party further. THey enter the room with the pit of undead that nearly wiped them out before. It reeks to high heaven, but Ryder is not so sure they are all truly dead. He asks Jason to try and command them, but nothing happens. Feeling safer, they move through the cavern to the other side. THey find a small group of gnolls in a cavern further on. Jason manages to hold three of the gnolls, whil two charge the party with two large dogs. Kryos, Maxine, and Two Rivers hold the line while the rest assist to kill the dogs and gnolls. They find several weapons on the bodies and a ring, but nothing looks particularly magical. Another series of twisting caverns leads the party to a "t" intersection. Ryder asks Two Rivers to track, but he comes up with nothing. Seraphina suggests going left. Ryder yells back, we didn't ask for directions from the woman snarkily. This earns him a glare from Seraphina and some threats from his great aunt Maxine. He laughs and then goes left. It leads to no where and Ryder then says aloud,"See, it lead the wrong way." More glares from the women in the party as he falls into a fit of giggles. They go back and take the right passage.
This leads to a room with a narrow bridge leading across a pit of goopy looking bubbles with stairs leading down. The room itself is cut in half by a wall of blue fire. Ryder throws a rock at the wall and sees it pass through, but also get attacked by the fire. He tries to throw a rock under the wall through the foam, but it fails. Seraphina asks Andar if he sees anything. He doesn't see anything in the foam, but there is something floating and concealed.
Two Rivers suggests that maybe the bows or swords were magical and to try to get them for more accuracy. Kryos and Pavo offer to join him for protection and they head back to the room. They hear a giggle as an evil twisted imp looking creature appears out of nowhere and attack Two Rivers. Two Rivers gets hit and his wounds become infected, but he manages to strike back. Sadly, his weapon cannot pierce the quasit's hide. Kryos also attempts to hit him with the same effect. Pavo casts Burning Hands from the spellbook, scaring the Quasit at first, but then it laughs evilly. He then strikes Two Rivers again before disappearing. Relaying the attack to the party after returning with no weapons, Two Rivers and Pavo are patched up.
They attempts to tie two ropes together around Pavo and have him walk through the foam as Ryder tested a way to breathe under it. We set up a system for Pavo to yank on the rope if he senses trouble. As Pavo is walking across, the party sees the wall get hit by something and the foam is disturbed for a second. Ryder yells to pull Pavo back. The party attempts to get him back as fast as possible, but Pavo is hit twice by the creature.
Trying to come up with a way to lure the creature out now that they have some magical weapons, Ryder offers to go back to the weapons they were going to get as a lure. Maxine asks in their language if he would like an escort. He agrees and they head of with two of the magical weapons. They get back to the cave with zero incident, so they grab some weapons and start back. Meanwhile, the quasit attacks Jason from surprise and hits him. Seraphina rushes to his aid with a Cause Wounds. The quasit has deemed her irrelevant and not powerful enough, but is surprised when the strike hits, sapping him of his life energy. He screams and is stunned. Kyos lassos him so he cannot get away, but that proves unnecessary as Jason crushes its head with his magical mace.
The duo are returning back when they run into two trolls who are equally surprised to find the pair. They swap some blows, but Ryder realizes they are outmatched and yanks Maxine by the collor and says RUN!!! They start yelling for help as they run down the passage to the main group. The party hears them and runs to the rescue. THe party brings one down quicky and as they are focusing on the other, the first one comes back up behind the original. Kryos throws Greek Fire, nailing the one that just came up and hitting the one in front of them. Between Maxine's ax, Two River's spear, and Kryos's hammer, the trolls are destroyed forever.
Going back to the foam cave, they patch up and the group tells Ryder and Maxine the quasit is dead. Volunteering to go through the foam this time, Ryder makes it through and bumps into something metalic. He grabs it and finds a magical short sword that seems intelligent. He gets to the other side safely though. Then realizing he didn't have a plan to tell them that, he walks back and lets them know. Kryos will hold the rope on one side while Ryder is on the other to lead people across. He also mentions he found this sword that has seemed to become really attached to him. Once on the other side, the group says they need to rest to gather spells and healing before pushing on. They camp in the foam with a makeshift barrier of clothing and cloaks and rest without incident. Andar asks them what they are doing, but Seraphina comments they needed to rest up for spells before pushing on. She mentions the defeated quasit and he comments "Impressive." She is still unsure if that was sarcasm or not.
