Black Robe journeys to the north to check on the status of the war between the elves and Flan on one side and the "white" peoples of northern Oerik on the other. He brings along his son, Stalking Wolf, to show the boy the larger world, but when the shaman stops to visit the elven druids of the northern Vesve, he leaves the boy behind to spend time with his friend, Jenner Drake, studying with these elves. Also in the druidic grove with Jenner is the elven priestess, Naesala. It is the Eve of Midsummer and the druids are busy preparing to harvest mistletoe for the year. That's when Lohaheel, Gilgamesh, and Bunzuf arrive looking for help; a group of Flan have been captured by orcs and will soon be lost if not rescued. The two groups answer the call with the tiger acting as scout.
The group quickly follows the trail and comes upon more than a dozen orcs. Naesala is dropped in the first exchange, though Jenner uses an entangle to limit the flow of foes. Gilgamesh slaughters his way through the orcs and Lohaheel and Jenner save the priestess. When the orcs route, Bunzuf and Gilgamesh lead the charge after those that flee. A pair of orog caught in the young druid's spell tell the heroes where the Flan are being taken and the party leaves in pursuit.
After an hour, the tiger cub loses the trail, but picks it back up after 30 minutes of searching. The group comes upon an owlbear about an hour later and quickly take out the monster. Then, another hour later, they catch up with the orcs in the night as their lead their captives away. There are nine orcs, an orog, and a pair of tyrgs...! A sleep from Naesala and an entangle from Jenner greatly even the odds. Gilgamesh tries to take out the tyrgs, but a lucky bite on the tiger's neck takes him out. Lohaheel uses speak with animals to try and talk the dog-creatures out of the fight, which only works to get the one not being attacked to refrain from fighting once the other tyrg is slain. It's a tense battle. The healers bring Gilgamesh back up, but Lohaheel, Bunzuf, and Naesala are all dropped. The tiger baits the targ away after he helps Stalking Wolf to slay the orog. Jenner stabilizes the fallen as best he can and a potion of healing restores Lohaheel who cures the others. Together, the heroes slaughter the last tyrg and circle back to take out the slept/caught orcs and save the Flan captives.
