The heroes (Taarna, Brock, Esmerelda with Drusilla, Cymoril with Tar'jar, Tolus, and Mikhail) rest and recover from their victory. Taarna suggests that the group seek another way to travel through time so that they don't need to split up as Mikhail can neither accompany them to the sunken ruins of Morgan nor the spell-jamming city of Azura on Celene. The group comes up with a part of a plan to sink the Cone of the Magi, encasing it in many layers of stone shaped stone. They then discuss with Sister Elsbeth other ways to return to the future or find ioun stones.
The group talks with the Great Druidess, Mother Maggie, who gives the group a lavender ioun stone which her allies recovered from the various foes they fought at Tovag Baragu. Mikhail says that once the stone is burnt out, that should give him about half the strength he might need to safely travel back to his time. Only one more stone. Mother Maggie brings the party to a Flan village in the mountains where they meet with Jhor'dain, the Heirophant Druid that helped call down the Rain of Colorless Fire with them. The Flan druidess, however, is terribly mutated and altered after having attempted to use the Positive Material plane to cure herself. Her only hope as she suffers a terrible, lingering death is to find the Well of All Heals. In exchange for that, the party can have one of her ioun stones.
The heroes are sent far to the East to find the Silver Pane. Esmerelda uses a commune with nature to get the heroes close and then the group starts exploring caverns. They battle a dozen scorpions of various sizes, avoid a fire lizard, and are nearly slaughtered by six fire giants out hunting (the initial salvo pinned Taarna under a boulder, helpless). The heroes defeat these foes, cross a underground chasm, and defeat without killing a pair of salamanders before finally locating the magic mirror, the Silver Pane, they were looking for. The group then rests up for many hours. Alistair casts various temporal magics on the group and Mikhail dilates time as he enters the mirror...
...unfortunately, the party is in two bags of holding, outside the timestream that the young druid altered. Both parties nearly asphyxiate within the bags and only narrowly survive. The group then begins exploring what appears to be a cavern complex, leaving Esmerelda, Cymoril, and Tar'jar itemized for easy transport and to avoid time effects. The group battles first eleven and then three more giant scorpion shadows. The monsters nearly kill Tolus, who is only saves by Mikhail's potion of antitoxin and Brock's neutralized poison spells, though his +1 and non-magical gear disappear. Sister Elsbeth is not as lucky and dies.
