After resting and healing in Amberwood, the heroes (River, Rhom StrongArm, Cliffy, Sul Absil the minotaur, Bianca, Rhanee with Emrys, Zauloman, Metrion, Xinthos, Serena, and Durwood, and Vanity aka Lyrdanaszi) return to the Castle of the Cloud Giant Queen. Using clairvoyance and her magical mirror, Rhanee opens a portal back to the giants' pantry, allowing an invisible Cliffy and Zauloman to creep back in and up the stairs where they find a store room. The pair search for twenty minutes until Rhannee shows up and uses a detect invisibility to reveal a secret door before entering Cliffy's house. Cliffy triggers the secret door and scouts the room beyond, containing three cloud giants. Despite a cantrip carefully laid to make the heroes smell like cloud giants, one of the cloud giants also picks up the scent of dragon and elf, putting the creatures on alert. They search the room and the adjoining one, with one of the giants moving off. Cliffy and Zauloman narrowly avoid the remaining two until Cliffy finally "backstabs" one iwth his magical wand of paralysis and then blasts the other with a wizards' wrath. Cliffy quickly finishes off the second giant while the third flees to safety.
Cliffy listens at the door and hears several giants in the next room. The heroes leave Cliffy's house and prepare for battle, with Rhom opening the door. The heroes soon find themselves battling a male cloud giant and six female cloud giantesses. Most are surprised and with Cliffy's slow spell, they are seriously disadvantaged. Rhom smashes a path of shattered bodies through the jotuns, charging into the room. Sul backs him up with some help from Lyrdanaszi. Rhanee tries to determine which giants are evil or good, but the rest of the party doesn't give the witch-priestess a chance. Soon, most of the giants are dead, but another dozen "ladies" in waiting charge into the chamber. Again, Cliffy's slow spells make a huge difference, allowing the heroes to fairly quickly and easily slaughter the giantesses. Sul, owever, is badly wounded and Rhom takes several hits. Lyrdanaszi too takes a hit.
During the battle, a beautiful cloud giantess wearing giant-sized boots and a cloak, attacks Rhom from cover of invisibility using an enchanted broad sword as a dagger. Unfortunately for her, Rhanee's spell allows the witch to spot the threat to her brother and shout a warning. The giantess dashes away and the warsmith ignores her, smashing another path of dead giants across the battle. River, Rhanee, and Cliffy give chase and make very quick work of the queen.
Silence reigns over the cloud giant castle.
Rhanee calls up the queen's spirit and speaks with it. She learns the location of the queen's treasure as well as her two captives, a storm giant princess and a reef giant prince, who the heroes rescue. As a result, each of the party members now enjoys a good reputation with each of these breeds of giants as well as a reputation (good AND bad) with the cloud giants.
Eeps were 17,500 xps EACH with +2500xps mission accomplished as well.
