The heroes (Tiberius, Asbah with Waaha and Jabla Jaleed, Alexander, Mahmud, and Taephyr) rest at the ashira grove where they meet a woman, Dare, from the West. A "stealthy scout", Dare had been exploring the tomb of a vampire queen in the Cairn Hills when she triggered a glyph and appeared amid ruins. She then ran for her life from ghouls until she met the party.
The next morning, the group returned to the ruins where they met and battled nearly a dozen ghouls and ghasts. Asbah lead off with a lightning bolt that took the majority out. They Taephyr used his aura of protection to shield the group while Tiberius and Mahmud hacked into the remaining undead. The ghasts proved a slight problem, but the heroes were victorious. Later, the group entered the pyramid complex. They quickly came to the throne room, now full of ghouls and ghasts. Asbah and Alexander used web after web spell to catch the creatures and burn them with Taephyr again positioning himself so his aura would protect the party. This stratagem was quick successful, though Mahmud stumbled to the edge and was paralyzed. Only a produce flame from the lammasu saves the undead hunter from being eaten!
All of the ghouls and ghasts destroyed, the heroes met a beautiful woman that Asbah magic missiled. She explained that she was a great ghul, a jann turned ghoul, basically. Ancient, she had clawed her way back to sanity and now had a plan to regain her life. As a flesh-eater, she believed that if she were to drink the blood of the vampire queen kept prisoner, she would become a living immortal. When things got heated, the woman simply disappeared. The group decided to leave and learn more rather than take on either a ghul or the "queen of the vampires."
Back in the grove, Asbah's fortune deck indicated that not only was the vampire queen too powerful for the heroes to handle, but that the ghul was mistaken. She would become more powerful but not alive. So, the next day, the heroes returned. Asbah, armed with a standing detect evil and detect invisibility spotted the invisible ghul and helped direct the heroes to attack her. She tried a counter attack at Tiberius before the boy slaughtered the undead jann.
The group then studied the tomb of the vampire queen, learning quite a lot about the ancient Chun peoples who returned to Oerth after being taken to another world as slaves for a caste-like empire of fair-skinned racists. The tomb art includes many gates as well as references to using sailing vessels to travel between worlds...
Unfortunately for Asbah, the magical pearl she chose turned out to be cursed -- a pearl of foul rotting! The sha'ira immediately made contact with the janni in order to return to Huzuz and remove the terrible curse the pearl put on her. This leaves the rest of the group a week or more to explore the ruins of the vampire queen's tomb...
