Pacha, Viktor with Billi, Tur, and Lilliana travel north from Celene to Klarr where Viktor's mother is very pregnant. Unfortunately, Anastasia is not very happy to learn that her baby boy is adventuring and she's generally grumpy given her huge belly and cramps. While in the Displacer, the party encounters Gristlegrix, a gnome seeking adventurers to save a missing party of gnomish explorers, including Gristlegrix' uncle. He offers the party 200gp -- that's 40gp each -- to find and rescue the gnomes. To help them, the gnomes have already hired a "Zakharan druid" named Tauresh. Wanting to heroic AND escape Anastasia, the party accepts. Officially, Viktor will be watching Jasmine and Stephanos' kids, Kaitlyn and Alexander, and then spending the night at Martin's house, Taarna's long-house on the east side of town.
The group walks about six hours to the ruins and enters. They notices a pair of drawings on the walls...which animate into giant scorpions and attack! The heroes inflict terrible damage on the insects but fail to kill them. Before anyone is filled with lethal poison, however, Martin uses his ring of arachnid control from his mother to command the scorpions to "Stop!", buying the heroes more time to attack. Viktor kills one with Billi and Giggle's help and then the entire party leaps on Pacha's foe, slaying it. The group notices that the glyphs shielded a section of loose wall and Pacha enters, running into a pair of lizard men in their lair who don't last long.
The heroes continue exploring and track many different creatures in the area. They move to a door that shows very little traffic but which is wedged shut from their side. Pacha pulls the spike clear and opens the door, releasing four ghouls! She and Viktor are paralyzed for their efforts, but the heroes make quick short work of the undead, three of which were gnomish...
Once the rangers recover, the party continues. They come to a door, but Pacha notices a writhing, glowing, rainbow-hued mandala on the ground in the next room. She moves to investigate and realizes that the mandala is literally made up of the bodies of live snakes slithering in unison. En mass, they rise up and gaze into the ranger's eyes, nearly mesmerizing her. She hesitates, but Martin does not, hacking into the snakes. Viktor and Tur join her and soon the entire party is hacking up snakes. Lilliana uses her dagger to harm a snake and Tur's armor proves to be quite useful against the serpents but Viktor and Billi aren't as lucky. Tauresh uses a snake charm to immediately take to vipers out of the fight and a slow poison on Viktor to deal with the venom.
The group continues on and opens the door, revealing many goblins and hobgoblins within. Tur and Viktor battle the creatures, slaughtering many. The cries of "Bree-Yark" ("intruders" in goblin) bring a curious displacer beast. Pacha and Martin, however, hack into the thing, the boy severing the beasts front right paw! It dies without every having a chance to land a blow.
Unfortunately, the displacer beast wasn't the only thing that heard the noise. Tur is blind-sided by five bugbear and goes down, badly. Viktor and Billi charge into the bugbear, supported by Pacha and Martin with Giggles. The hairy goblinoids don't know what hit them and die quickly. Pacha runs into the room and sees a lone goblin with a dagger holding a gnome hostage. "Free passage or I gut this one like a fish." The party agrees and the goblins makes them swear. On the way out, he kicks fallen Tur in the head and leaves. Billi and Viktor start to tail the goblin, but Tauresh calls the half-orc back to help him save the elf's life. Martin, instead, falls the goblin out and re-assures his several times about the party's promise. The goblin drops the gnome and bolts. He makes it only a few feet before Billi opens his belly THROUGH his spine...saying in Canine to Martin, "This is for the elf! I'm no one's familiar and no one heard ME promise anyway!" The cooshee even "fetches" the body back to the entrance of the ruins.
After Viktor and Tauresh heal Tur, the heroes briefly speak with Vern (but friends call him "Tink"), a tinker gnome from the original, missing party...
