The heroes (Taarna, Rhom, Wynd with Thundr, Brock, Esmerelda with Drusilla, Cymoril with Tarjar, Cliffy, Tolus, and Moonlight) nap in the Cathedral of Istus in Greyhawk before Cliffy teleports the group back to Suendrako. There, Cliffy and Rhom meet up with the su-dopplegangers, who join the group. The party encounters a huge room full of wererats (and dopplegangers in disguise) -- during the ensuing melee, the dopplegangers run around identifying and protecting their brethren from the party. Unfortunately, several of the heroes were struck by the lycanthropes... During the melee, Cliffy and Esmerelda see a wizard's eye thanks to their standing detect invisibility spells and very quickly the heroes engage and slaughter the ogre magi sorcerer in charge. Continuing on, the party enters a series of caverns, slaying eight ash trolls, four regular trolls, bumbling into and destroying eight hill giant zombies, before meeting and quickly slaughtering an annis and a greenhag, though the annis did manage to polymorph Cymoril into a goldfish. The heroes then track the remaining hag, an annis, who leads to into fights with a gray ooze, an umber hulk, and an otyugh before the group finally catches and kills her too.
The region pacified, the group sets out to find Taarna's sphere. They come to a section which speaks to them -- no answer summons one wight per party member. Cymoril, however, was able to answer the rest of the questions and the heroes quickly reached the final chamber, guarded by an efreeti pasha. It unleashed a HUGE wall of fire that sent everyone except Rhom and Taarna running. The two mashed the efreeti badly, but he transformed into smoke and waited for his flames to destroy the heroes. Esmerelda, still having an active control vapor got healed up and returned with Rhom, Taarna, and a protection from fire sporting Wynd. The witch forced the efreeti into a bottle and then the heroes left. They released the efreeti, who simply left once free of the chamber. Hours and hours later, the heroes re-entered and Taarna recovered her sphere -- making her both a Hunter and a Seeker for the Suel House Taarak.
At this point, however, the heroes must choose who will continue to the third and final portion of the quest...
