The heroes (Dante, Rose, Cassandra, Nymphadorus, Pwotal, and Kahan) spend the night in Daggerdale amid much celebration. The gnomish cleric heals their wounds and in the morning, thanks to Dawnstar, gives the party ten goodberries each. The al karak elam pleads with the party to go back and see if there is anyone else to rescue. When the winged illusionist offers to fly to the human town of Grandel for help returning them to Oerth, the heroes agree. Joined by the al karak elam archer and eight centaur as well as the gnomish cleric of Baervan Wildwanderer, the heroes quickly travel back to the lizard man lair. The plan is that while the humans enter, the cleric and centaurs will create a ramp for the party to escape. Meanwhile, to deal with the water, the cleric casts water walking on Pwotal and Kahan. For her part, Dawnstars offers the heroes invisibility spells, which Dante accepts.
The young sorcerer scouts the entry room, spying six lizard men and a crocodile. He asks the group to quickly lower him down and unleashes a frost nova freezing all but two lizard men into blocks of ice. Kahan tosses a sleep spell while Pwotal and Rose join Dante. The heroes hack a bloody swath through the room, killing everything. They continues and scout much of the rest of the caverns. Pwatol water walks through a room with killer frogs, which he quickly dispatches, finding quite a bit of treasure. Later, the group battle three crocodiles. The fight goes well and Cassandra moves to help, invoking her new sorcerous ability...of blood rain! The spell takes out Rose and forces the heroes to fall back, though it also finishes two of the crocs, with a fire bolt from Dante finishing the last one. The sorceress apologizes profusely.
The heroes continue and battle a few more lizard men before finding a way to the lower level. Pwatol's skill in melee keeps the party largely safe while Nymphadorus and Kahan keep him standing. Rose doesn't fair so well and falls back to second string combatant. On the second level, the heroes take out three more lizard men before finding five more prisoners. At the same time, they encounter a lizard man spell caster and his pet crocodile. Suddenly everyone is faerie fired! Pwatol and Rose charge while Dante fire bolts. The spell-caster drops a staff and now there's a massive python defending him. Were it not for Kahan and Nymphadorus' psionic talents, the heroes would probably have fallen right there. Instead, both snake and spell caster are repeatedly assaulted, keeping them from attacking. Cassandra casts bleeding on each and together the heroes drop first the croc, then each of these foes.
The group falls back to the prison where Nymphadorus meditates. Inside are three centaur, each with broken legs, a catatonic al karak elam, and a female gnome. The heroes set a watch and rest, dealing with a few minor encounters. An hour later, the chubby psi uses his healing abilities to mend the broken legs of two of the centaur and then meditates another hour before fixing the third one and healing everyone nearly back to full strength. Together, the group escape the lair and return to Daggerdale where they are greeted like long-lost nobility.
About an hour later, Sage appears along with Brand, Allyrion, and another man, Rose's uncle Moorak. Sage fixes a withering glare on Kahan, Rose, Dante, and Cassandra, asking what happened. Once the details come out, Sage softens a little and tells her acolyte that he's done a good job protecting the children. Brand and Allyrion tell Cassandra that Dante cannot continue training her, but Sage happily offers to mentor her. Using a series of item spells, everyone is shrunk for transport and they return to Oerth.
Later, Brand and Allyrion bring Nymphadorus to both Greyhawk and Klarr, effectively "rescuing him" from Sage and the Wee Jasians.
