The heroes (Taarna, Rhom, Wynd with Thundr, Brock, Esmerelda with Drusilla, Cymoril, Cliffy, Tiana, and Tolus) continued to explore the treasure vaults of the Temple of Wee Jas in the forgotten city of Suendrako. As the heroes picked their way through the room (and dead giant bodies), several party members were struck by a variety of glyphs exposed during the combat with the jotuns. No one was seriously hurt, though the glyph of insanity did come up twice. The heroes fell back into the corridor to rest and recover overnight. As the heroes rested, Esmerelda repeatedly read the cards for the party and their quest, confiding in Taarna that she would soon succeed and in the process make a permanent change to the world which even the Norns supported in the name of justice. But, the price would be the party's lives...
In the morning, Cliffy lead the way back to the treasure vault, followed by Rhom and Taarna. Unfortunately, the magical glyph that released ancient hill giants had a companion glyph that summoned modern ones! The heroes were again fighting for their lives against twice their number in hill giants! Luckily, Rhom, Taarna, and Wynd are quite adept at slaughtering jotuns and managed, despite several additional glyphs, to win the day. Cliffy then cast detect invisibility in an attempt to find all the glyphs in order to remove them. The poor elf was blasted at least a half dozen times by the now-revealed magical wards! He survived and set about permanently removing all those he could. In the process, Cliffy found more magical traps, triggering most of them.
First, eleven yeth hounds appeared. Thinking quickly, the elf simply called down an ice storm on the whole room, savaging the creatures (and himself), but avoiding a long, protracted combat. Later, a horde of abashai in all colors appeared. The heroes fairly neatly disposed of the dragon-devils with minor casualties. Continuing, Cliffy triggered another glyph that summoned a huge pit fiend which psionically stunned the group and summoned another pit fiend and then two barbed devils. The heroes managed to slay all of them, though the original pit fiend proved the hardest and most dangerous of the lot. In the end, using Wynd's find traps spell for verification, Cliffy removed the vast majority of the magical traps in the vault. There were, however, at least three left, plus a number of mechanical ones, plus several localized magical and mechanical ones.
The healers restored the party as best they could and Esmerelda used her dimensional fold spells to bring most of the heroes back to Klarr, where they healed up further and resupplied. Wynd also released the five blink dogs. When they returned, the group invited Mikhail to come back with them, allowing the young druid the opportunity to memorize the location of the forgotten city.
The party spent the night in the lower levels of the temple and in the morning...
