The heroes (Yavin, Katya, Hamish, Gilean, Moonleaf, Remort, Twyll, and Dormius) discuss the size of the party and the space on the damselfly, ultimately settling on finding a larger ship, specifically the wasp. Hamish and Yavin along with Remort, Moonleaf, and Authur the giff go over to investigate the ship, encountering and battling nearly two dozen lesser wraiths. The heroes also find a mind flayer ressonnance stone charged with despair. Hamish takes some time to then move the helm from the damselfly into the wasp.
The same five then go on to search through the tradesmen that the heroes had found earlier. The goal is to seek out food, water, barrels, or other supplies that could be helpful. Instead, the group finds and battles ten full-strength wraiths. Afterward, they discover that the tradesmen is actually full of bolts of cloth and ingots of various metals. In the back of the ship is a fully-functional helm, completely buried under a massive pile of copper. Hamish moves several tons of the ingots to the wasp, the Omen, as well as transplants the helm onboard. The tradesmen also has spices, flour, rice, pots and pans, and other needed minutia.
Just before Yavin powers up the wasp to fly into orbit, some deer-like creatures arrive. Hamish kills one and carries it off; the heroes will have meat tonight from the relative safety of orbit. Due to terrible winds, it takes about eight hours for the Omen to achieve a geosychronous orbit in which the heroes can rest...
