Pam Moore on KRON, Channel 4 news at 11pm: "Police and paramedics were called to the San Jose Fairmont earlier this evening. While reports are incomplete at this time, witnesses on the scene reported a horde of wildlife attacking attendees of a conference on alternative medical research and treatments. For more on this story, we join Haaziq Madyun on the scene downtown San Jose. Haaziq, what can you tell us about this situation?"
Haaziq: "Well, Pam, information is incomplete at this time, but it would appear that a number of wild animals somehow entered this conference on alternative medical practices, hosted here at the San Jose Fairmont hotel. No one knows where the animals came from or how they got access to the second floor of the building. More importantly, no one knows where the animals are now, but the evidence of mayhem is clear. All reports confirm that near the beginning of Dr. Nora Jones' talk on Shamanic Healing Modalities, the animals somehow entered the small Paseo conference room, here, and began attacking guests. Hotel security has been pouring over camera footage in order to determine how the animals got access to the building. Among the creatures witness reported are lions, tigers, bulls, and even a crazy rabbit. One witness went so far as to claim a dragon flew out of the hotel and into the night sky.
"A few attendees suspect that Dr. Jones may have staged the event for publicity, but that is unlikely, particularly since the doctor was one of the animals' first victims. In addition, at least three other people were killed and seventeen injured with dog bites, tiger scratches, lacerations, broken bones, and even a scorpion sting! What's more, one man's body appears to have been smashed partway through the wall of the second-story, glass walkway between the two wings of the hospital. Police have not identified the victim but he appears to be one of the attendees of a different conference event. The gathering included many different medical professionals, including medical doctors, chiropractors, accupunturists, as well as faith healers, herbalists, and even psychics. Conference organizers are upset about the lack of security and demanding a full investigation.
"Meanwhile, Pam, it would also appear that in the chaos, another man was set on fire. Fire fighters and paramedics are looking for the individual, but have not been able to locate him. As you can see from this cell phone footage, it appears that one man was some how lit on fire and struggled in hand-to-hand combat with this lion before falling to the ground. And, the burn marks and blood stains on this carpet confirm much of what eye-witnesses have been claiming. No major damage to the building is visible and authorities are unclear how the fire started."
Pam: "Haaziq, there were reports of gun fire as well?"
Haaziq: "Yes, Pam, it appears that members of the notorious punk gang, the Storm Troopers of Mayhem, happened to be present at the VTA stop on First Street. When they saw the animals attacking the conference goers, several opened fire, breaking glass and adding to the general chaos. One woman supposedly jumped from the second story walkway and ran away from the scene, miraculously unhurt from the fall. No is making accusations, but police suspect that the gang may have had some involvement in this event. At this time, however, no gang members are still on the scene or in police custody and police are actively on the look out for the Storm Troopers of Mayhem for additional information.
