After the party (Idky, Maedhros, Yavin, Artec, Kinsa with Dagaru, Gilean, Moonleaf, and Remort) spends a lot of time deliberating how to attack the remaining beholders, four directors come down the tunnel. As the party prepares to engage them, Maedhros casts cerulean sign, sickening one of them. The creatures leap at the party and attack with eye beams and bites (both from the directors and their carrion crawler mounts). Eye beams create walls of ice, cutting off Remort, Moonleaf, and Idky from the rest of the party.
Artec gets his face bitten off and drops into a coma. Artec and Gilean get paralyzed by the carrion crawlers' tentacles. The giff then join the fight and start shooting at the walls of ice. Kinsa and Yavin go down, and Moonleaf gets attacked by a director. Remort manages to mind thrust one of the directors (in both brains) through the wall of ice. One of the giff runs up and starts clubbing one of the directors. Unfortunately, he and the rest of the giff get killed.
Idky arrives from the other side of the wall of ice and revives Yavin. The paralyzed Gilean attacks the area with id insinuation, catching three mounts and one of the directors. Two of the mounts sit still, while one attacks its rider! Four giff now charge in and start bashing a director. Moonleaf goes down under a gout of fire from her director. The giff succeed in killing two directors. Idky frees Gilean and Artec from their paralysis. An illusionary fireball goes off in the area but only affects the remaining giff.
Yavin casts the meteor spell at a director and hits him with one of the two. Maedhros casts improved magic missile at a director. Unfortunately, the spell fizzles. Meanwhile, Dagaru has been flying around pecking and scratching directors, scoring a number of hits. During the fight, Idky and Kinsa get ennervated and each loses two levels. Then Maedhros goes down. Yavin casts meteor again, this time hitting with four, killing a director. Artec finally gets up, but he's slowed. Idky gets ennervated again and loses another two levels. He then gets badly maimed, stunned, and slowed.
The lone, wounded, remaining director drops Yavin and turns to finish the party. Remort is out of psionic strength but now that he is no longer paralyzed, Artec manages to get off two arrows blindly and finish the creature. Remort scans the party's minds, but cannot figure out who has healing potions. Luckily, Dagaru mentions Kinsa's potion, which Remort uses to revive the witch. She then restores Maedhros (but fails) and then Yavin. The cleric then uses the last of his cure serious wounds spells to mend Idky's broken ribs. Kinda and Yavin use most of their remaining spells to stabilize and restore to consciousness the numerous downed party members.
