The heroes (Taarna, Rhom, Esmerelda with Drusilla, Corvin, Saanau, Visglir, and Ichi) continue their journey to the Sea of Dust. On the first day in the Duchy of Ulek the group encounters a number of 8 to 10' diameter holes in the ground. They group had head rumors of ankheg in the area and Rhom used NightSplitter, his hammer of lightning, to cave in the various burrows. A single giant insect emerged, which the party made very short work of. The following night, the heroes slept in the Inn of the Wayward Witch. There Corvin's room was burgaled while the dwarf was within sleeping. Corvin tossed his hand axe into the thief's back, who then tumbled out the window and broke his arm. Adding insult to injury, Corvin then held him. The dwarf captured the hobbit thief, though his six accomplices escaped. The accused, Mr Branko Gobbet, however, turned out to be a very well-respected member of the local community and it was only barely that the party left town without having to surrender Corvin or fight the local constablary!
The following night, the heroes slept in farm fields where they were disturbed by a band of brownies playing poker. On the fourth day, the group reached the edge of the Axewood, but were warned that there were no safe paths through and the place was patrolled by elves and lizard men. The group turned south to go around the woodland and camped at a ford, waiting for a barge. In the middle of the night, the barge arrived, but Saanau noticed that in addition to the two men, there were two invisible ogre magi flying around. A cone of cold nearly killed Esmerelda, but Ichi mashed the ogre magi into mush which Rhom and Taarna finished off. The following morning, the group took the barge across the Sheldomar River, only to be attacked by lizard men. Saanau spied the creatures and unleashed a thunderbolt into the waters, finishing nearly all of them. That night, Rhom spied three will o' wisps. The warsmith's trusty warhammer made short work of the creatures and together with Taarna, the party slaughtered the six trolls they were working with. Visglir used his flameblade to slice off the trolls heads and that was that!
On the sixth night in the Duchy of Ulek, the group was about half way around the Axewood, camping under the shade of the wood. After darkness fell, the rest of the lizard man band arrived and attacked. Within a minute, only three remained. Esmerelda laid a powerful curse each one, should they ever eat humans or their ilk again... On the 20th, the group spied a wood elf being carried in the air by some elemental vortex. Saanau dispelled it, but the elf fell to his death. Saanau, Visglir, and Ichi then went back to the woods to explain to the wood elves what happened. The group could determine no motive for the kidnapping, save an evil alchemist's quest for a potion of longevity...
On the 22nd, the group met the pegasus, Starwind, a scion of his kind. He had seen Saanau from a distance and mistook her for an avariel. Starwind's herd is being decimated by a band of griffons -- only five remain of the original 23. The pegasus asked the heroes for help, which they proceeded to offer. Using ESP and dimensional folding in conjunction with probability control, Esmerelda transported the whole party sans horses to the Jotun Mountains, where the pegasai live. The heroes camped out to watch for the griffons and their invisible leader for three days, until the 25th, when the silver dragon, Cirria showed up. The dragon asked the party if they would be willing to help a storm giant family whose infant son had been captured. Taarna, the party leader, agreed if the dragon would watch out for the pegasus. Cirria went one further and brought them as well as the party to the giant's home, high above the Davish Falls.
