The battle in the drow incursion settlement on Torsh continued...
A swarm of undead rushes out at the party (Idky, Maedhros, Yavin, Artec, Katya, Hamish, Remort, Gilean, Moonleaf, and Kinsa). The first wave includes 30 zombies, 5 troglodyte & bullywug ghasts, and 23 ghouls. Three glabrezou teleport among the party as well. Artec kills a ghast with arrows, Remort time steps, Kinsa faerie fires undead, Katya summons a guardian, Yavin finishes off the last downed troll, Maedhros starts turning undead, and Borlon activates his Rod of Ra to send a sunray at the incoming undead. The day light destroys three of the ghasts and a good chunk of the ghouls and zombies in the room.
A dispel magic is cast, which removes a bunch of standing spells on some party members. It also deactivates the Rod of Ra! A male drow steps out and casts a fireball in Borlon’s area. The blast stuns Kinsa. A female priest steps out and flame strikes Borlon and Kinsa. Those spells also take out the ghouls surrounding them. Fear effects from the glabrezou affect Dagaru, who flies off into a corner.
Moonleaf runs up through the zombies to the drow in the corner and fears a female drow, who flees in a panic. Borlon destroys all the zombies in one corner when he again invokes the Rod of Ra and also blasts the four drow who had stepped out there. Katya then drops a wall of ice on them, which really wounds all of them, particularly since they're blind. Artec starts peppering the drow with arrows, killing one of the male mages. Idky jumps over to engage one of the drow priestesses so she can’t cast spells.
The remaining zombies now swarm the party. Two bring Kinsa down. A glabrezou tries to telekinese Gilean, but his free action protects him. The priestess Idky is fighting drops a globe of darkness. The remaining male over there disappears inexplicably. The mage Moonleaf is fighting magic missiles her.
Remort reappears and positions himself behind Moonleaf’s drow mage and attempts to backstab him and misses. The psi does manage to resist Moonleaf's fear aura, however, but only using a charge of his ioun stone. Katya moves to the drow mage and releases the light of reason in his face, blinding him and turning the ghoul in that corner. Borlon steps up and aims the sunray at the undead on Artec, destroying all but one zombie on him. Now free, Artec starts shooting a demon. Moonleaf disengages and goes to assist the downed Kinsa. Unfortunately, Kinsa apparently is affected by her fear aura and wets herself. Borlon re-aims the sunray at the corner with the drow, reblinding a priestess who had healed herself. Her armor and some weapons disintegrate. Katya casts sever at a demon, but it resists.
Some of the drow’s vision returns, and they start attacking. The drow on Remort steps back and hurls a javelin of lightning at him, killing him outright. The psionist's body literally has a hole blown completely through the chest. Idky runs over and slaps a Heal on him, trying to save his life, while Katya keeps the male drow engaged. Gilean (with Maedhros on his shoulder) runs over to help Borlon with the two priestesses.
Gilean gets stabbed with a death lance, which steals a level and drops him. Maedhros drops that priestess with improved magic missiles. Idky's heal does restore Remort's body before his spirit has a chance to enter the afterworld, but although the psionist lives, his mind seems blank and gone.
That’s when four huge spiders, three large spiders, and eight large spiders enter the room through the door where Borlon is. Four huge, twelve large, and seven giant spiders enter where Idky and Remort are. A spidery shape also begins to coalesce over the altar. Hamish gets hit by a javelin of lightning.
Artec, who has encountered the Demon Queen of Spiders before on Oerth, recognizes Lolth for who she is. So he kills the final demon and readies his bow for the drow goddess: He grins and says “Remember me?” Katya casts dismissal at Lolth, but her magic resistance protects her. However, she triggers a wild magic effect, which causes her magic to be drawn from the wrong place, and the power drain destroys an entire microverse. Borlon, being telepathically sensitive to these things, also feels what happened and is horrified by what he senses. The priest of Ra crumples in mental shock. Maedhros attempts to cast lightning bolt at one column of incoming spiders. Unfortunately, the spell just gets neutralized such that electricity just crackles around the elf harmlessly. How anticlimactic...! Moonleaf runs into the spiders on one side and holds them at bay with her fear aura. Yavin mesmerizes a couple of the lead spiders on the other side, which slows the arachnid advance somewhat...for the moment...
