After destroying the ogre fortress in the northeast Vesve, Garlok gathers a party to journey to the Plane of Shadow in order to recover his and Wynd's shadows. Garlok had already done quite a bit of research and even brought on retainer a sage, Alec, to help answer questions. Helena placed a very clear mental image of the plane in Garlok and Mizzrie's minds. Mizzrie casts the plane shift spell to make the trip, supported by an uplift from Kennibrae, although only the former would go to the Plane of Shadows. Joining the rest are Aeronne, Pudic, and Tolus.
Mizzrie's plane shift has almost pin-point accuracy. The group appears on the edge of a graveyard. They very quickly slaughter the fly-demon-undead and then battle a huge host of shadow mastiffs. Wynd's sword proves a fantastic asset, turning the tide of battle when a huge group of shadows led by his shade arrive. The heroes are victorious and travel on through the dead woods. There, they are attacked by a massive, very old green dragon. The dragon breathes of the party twice, nearly killed Tolus and seriously hurting the rest of the group. Working together, however, the heroes are able to bring the dragon down and slay it. The group then slices out the various dragon parts and an hour into this work is attacked by a spectre and Garlok's shade. The shade surprised the prince but somehow (?!?) missed its backstab. The spectre was not so lame. The other heroes rallied to Garlok. Mizzrie slew the spectre with Emerald Razor, waking her swords dormant awareness. Meanwhile, Wynd used his sunsword and boots of speed to keep Garlok's shade contained and off-balance, supported by Pudic's shield-bashes and even attempts by Alec and Aeronne. Garlok healed up a bit and slew his shade as well.
Badly wounded, the heroes then plane shifted back to Oerth, missing Amberwood by some 85 miles and appearing in the middle of the Horned Society. Luckily, however, Garlok and Mizzrie were immediately recognized and given the diplomatic passage the two deserved (thanks to having saved Queen Fanggrabber's son from Iuz' dungeons).
