The heroes (Galen, Urthur, Hagar, Vinato, Aiden, Saytang, Keakani with Oma, and Kahana) stand guard over the ruins of Tanaroa overnight and throughout the following day, using the Great Wall as a base of operations. The group gathers the remnants of food, although most of the regions was either already destroyed or already picked over by the survivors. That night, the group lights several large fires, to provide light to watch over the village by night. A few hours before dawn, Hagar and Kahana go down to relight the fires, only to be ambushed by zombies...!
Kahana leaps over and past the undead while Hagar barrels through them. Urthur spies the commotion from the Wall and sounds an alarm, dragging Galen along. Hagar assumes his beast form and he and Kahana run for the safety of the wall as literally dozens of zombies arrive, as well as the animate skeletons of many sahuaghin. The pair are nearly cut off, but manage to reach Urthur, Galen, and Saytang, who run own to help them.
What happens next is a huge battle. The heroes destroy most of the zombies as well as all of the skeletons. Unfortunately, those are not the only undead -- not only does Tikal also command a few ghouls, but he also has created several topi, shrunken zombie-like creatures with poisonous claws. A sabre-tooth tiger leaps into the battle and targets Aiden, nearly killing him. The topi target the cleric as well as Keakani. Rongo manages to charm the tiger and have it aid the heroes, but the topi and ghouls create havoc. And despite the heroes best efforts to command the undead, Tikal recommands them from beyond the battle, nearly killing Keakani.
In the end, the heroes have captured seven zombies, but Tikal escapes unharmed into the night. The group recovers until midday and then follows the undeads' trail into the jungles south of the Tanaroa. There, in the late afternoon, the party comes upon a huge clearing with many giant lizards. Battle is joined the the heroes are victorious, but they've exhausted their healing and most of their daylight, so they rest again.
Just before dawn, three beautiful young women arrive to gather herbs. Keakani uses a sleep spell to overpower them. Oma shows that they all radiate magic so Rongo attempts to dispel it. One woman is now free.
The party takes the one woman aside and learns that Tikal's camp is two more clearings away. The first clearing, however, is a new village of all the beautiful women from Tanaroa, charmed slaves of the zombie master. The woman is terrified to be with any villagers since she says, "Tikal has put a hex on everyone, even Loba. I'm sure Kamu'a is dead by now. If I go anywhere, he will know. He rules by fear."
At this point, the heroes talk about what to do with their three captives, particularly the one free of Tikal's magics. Hagar says, "we could just tell them [the other two charmed women] we beat her to death." Aiden (and Aaron) laugh. "That's in character, by the way," Aaron clarifies. 11/10/13 @ 6:50pm
