The heroes (Galen, Urthur, Hagar, Vinato, Aiden, Rongo, and Saytang) hold up in the lizard man throne room. After several hours, Galen has psionically healed most of the heroes and regained much of his strength. Further, one of the potions restores Saytang to fighting ability. The totemic warrior tries another potion and finds himself outside the lair where he find the naamar youth on his hero's quest. Saytang quaffs the other half of the potion and teleports himself and the leandar back into the throne room. Minutes later a stone shape peels the bronze door from the wall and allows the lizard men to spill in.
The heroes do well at first, but the ancient lizard man begins unleashing spells that the heroes can't counter. Urthur leads a charge to reach the spellcaster but even with Galen's psionic support the withered, ancient lizard man manages to fall-back and escape. The heroes slaughter many of the scaly creatures, but nearly everyone falls. Finally it is only Rongo and Urthur left against a dozen lizard men with literally dozens dead at their feet. Meanwhile, Vinato's body had been dragged away. The wizard offered Rongo Vinato's body if he promised on his gods to leave and never return. After a bit of wrangling, Rongo agree and he and Urthur transported the fallen out.
The heroes rested briefly and Galen restored the heroes as best as he could. Rongo animal friendshiped the dead naamar's sabre toothed cat, which helped guard the area. The group then returned to the Great Wall and spent ten days in Tanaroa resting.
The majority of the group (Galen, Urthur, Hagar, Vinato, Aiden, Saytang, Keakani with Oma, and Aolaw'ai) then hiked back to the lizard men lair to settle their score. Rongo refused, citing his earlier promise. The group met little resistance on their journey, although the door entrance was magically sealed and the party had to kill another crocodile. Saytang and Urthur tried to swim into the lair, but were nearly killed by a pair of giant crayfish. They heal up and try again. Urthur and Saytang swim in and battle three giant lizards and several lizard men. The group then rested over night nearby.
In the morning, the heroes enter the lair again. This time, however, the group must defeat a black dragon, which they do surprisingly easy. Once the heroes establish a beach-head, everyone enters the lair and the heroes spend several hours searching the place. They find much treasure, but realize that the wizard, druid, krolli, and at least 20 adults with more than a dozen young lizard men escaped. The heroes also find a sahuaghin and a lizard man prisoner. The former shares nothing but the later offers to help the heroes attack the fleeing lizard men.
