The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Athos, Artec, Katya, Hamish, Sabrina, Ishmopah, Kinsa, and Remort) continue to explore the K'thoi ruins...
Yavin uses his precognitive ability to try to get an idea of what is to come. He sees them fighting for their lives on the last level. They also spend four hours in the room so Yavin can heal them all up. Idky lends Hamish his airwalking earring so he can airwalk up the shaft with Athos. On the way up, he sees a slime full of eyes in the side passageway. He calls down a warning, and the rest of the party head up with levitate spells. Yavin pulls out his darkness stone to hopefully provide some cover as they float up.
Unfortunately, the argos shoots eyebeams on their way up. One of the eyebeams dispels the levitate on Katya and the magical darkness. Yavin catches her with feather fall. But she’s held by another beam.
Meantime, Hamish has made it up into the room at the top. He has passed through a time dilation. There are two dried-up fountains with a staircase leading up between them to a set of double doors. There are four 7-½ foot tall frog men (slaadi) also there waiting for him. They leap to attack him. Unfortunately, help is going to be slow coming because of the time dilation.
After Hamish kills two of them, the other two start attacking him with id insinuation. One hits himself, and the other only succeeds in enraging Hamish, who rushes and kills him. Hamish offers quarter to the final one, but it doesn’t accept. So Hamish kills him.
Meantime, Idky had gotten fumbled and slowed. So he lets go and also falls. Fortunately, he gets caught in Yavin’s feather fall.
Shortly afterward, the levitators arrive minus Idky and Katiya.
Meanwhile, Idky checks out Katya (including a couple of inappropriate gropes). Idky puts on his ring of shadow hearing in hopes of at least hearing the rest of the party. Instead, he hears the argos oozing its way down the shaft toward them.
From above, Artec also sees the argos oozing down the shaft, so he starts shooting at it and kills it. The party send a rope down with Idky’s airwalking earring. Between airwalking and the rope, they are able to get up to the top.
Eeps for Hamish: 52,500

They cast detect magic off a scroll and check the door at the top of the staircase. It radiates magic. Ishmopah casts dispel magic, or he tries to. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have access to his god due to the time dilation. Yavin uses his precognition again to see what would happen by opening the door. He sees someone acting like they are being turned to stone but not. Probably another time dilation. As soon as Hamish touches the door, he starts slowing down. Immediately, Yavin thrusts his ring of attenuation on Hamish’s finger, which helps but he’s still slowed for a while. As long as he wears the ring, it protects him from the effect.

They’re stuck at this point, so they opt to let Idky and Sabrina return through the last time dilation with Artec’s sword so they can regain spells. They successfully survive and come back up fully rested after a couple hours from the rest of the party’s perspective.
They use the sword to cast knock to open the door. Idky casts find traps, and they move through into a musty, dusty chamber. Their lights all dim, except for Yavin’s flaming sword. The room is dark and made of marble, which is cracked from some long-ago impact from the outside. There are some bronze-hafted spears whose heads are crystal flickering with a strange light. There are divans in the room. On them are seven mummified hexapedal creatures--draconians (reptilian versions of centaurs). They flinch as Hamish’s light of wisdom hits them, and they move toward the party. A wave of fear emanates from them, paralyzing Remort, Sabrina, and Ishmopah.
Artec shoots an arrow at them, but it has no effect. Yavin hurls his flaming axe at them and misses. The mummies grab the spears and hurl them at him. The spears return to their hands after striking. Hamish and Artec charge them. Katya turns two of the mummies with her light of wisdom. Artec casts shield as he waits to join combat behind Hamish. Ishmopah fuzzes out in preparation for combat. He leaps over and behind the mummies and starts ripping into the ones at the back of their ranks. Remort and Kinsa hurl holy water. Sabrina magic missiles. Idky attacks with spiritual weapon. Athos lies there drooling.
They finish off the unturned mummies and then finish off the turned mummies. Ishmopah uses his cure disease ability on Hamish and Ishmopah so they can receive cure spells.

There are two doors leading out of the room. One is trapped, the other isn’t. Hamish opens the untrapped one and gets hit with a sepia snake sigil and frozen in time. So they comb the mummies for treasure to find something that might help. They find the following:

* Copper coiled bracelet with snake motif set w/ 5 fire opals (necro; code: gygax’ hero)
* Copper bracelet set with jade (code: better than Bart’s bracelet)
* Copper bracelet set with turquoise (abjuration, not protection; code: Shawn’s ring)
* Coral and turqoise beads (necklace of prayer beads)

Sabrina casts knock on the trapped door from a distance, and a huge block of jade crashes down and blocks the doorway from inside. Artec hacks away at it and clears it out of the way. There is a narrow passageway beyond the room. It leads to a 15-foot diameter spherical room with high winds blowing. They cross it by Idky and Yavin using a rope to provide something for the rest of the party to brachiate across. The passage continues to a small side chamber that has a lever and a wheel. There is a mechanical trap and a large smudge on the floor in front of the wheel. Yavin tries thought capture and gets that a stone block fell on the last person who was here. Sabrina casts detect invisibility and sees the seam in the ceiling where the stone block came from. She checks back down the hallway and finds a secret door in the spherical room.
They use Katya’s unseen servant to turn the wheel, which sets off the stone block, but the secret door also opens. The all go through into a semicircular room. They are standing on a raised dais. Down below, at the opposite end of the room is a very old-looking couatl coiled around a smoky obsidian mirror. The reflection in the mirror shows very bad things. Suddenly, they are all facing themselves, and they are on the dais with them. Combat ensues.
Katya shines the light of wisdom at hers, and it hesitates. Katya casts sever at hers, while Yavin flies out. Katya’s creature retreats back to the mirror. Yavin’s won’t follow him beyond the secret door. Sabrina magic missiles Yavin’s creature, while Yavin mind thrusts it. Katya severs Idky’s and it also retreats. Yavin tries to mesmerize his and fails. It causes Yavin to faint and drop his weapons. Remort mind thrusts it. Yavin grabs his weapons. Katya blasts it with the light of wisdom. It screams out “My Lord Hastor” and disappears.
Now Idky hears a voice “Violence only begets more violence.” The come closer to talk to the creature. He tells them he’s been there in 15,000 years, and they are the first to enter the chamber. Beyond him is the greatest threat Torsh has ever known. The mirror leads to a faraway realm. Only someone who has never killed another can free him.
They bring Remort in with mind blank up, so Yavin leads him in. As Remort approaches the mirror. They bring Sabrina in to help, but she brings out an image, which they all must fight. A critical mind thrust from Yavin makes it go away. Unfortunately, since she still had detect invisibility up, so she sees the horror behind the mirror. She screams and faints.
Remort approaches, and a burly humanoid figure of maggots and worms steps out of the gate. A stench accompanies it, which causes Remort to gag and retch. Yavin mesmerizes it, and Remort approaches the obsidian mirror to strike it. Two more of the creatures step out. Katya tries to dismiss, but it doesn’t work.
Idky disables one with a crit to its head. So he relieves Katya, who casts nab at it to keep its maggots away from it. Remort hits and shatters the obsidian mirror, which closes the gate and frees the couatl! Yavin faerie fires them. One spits maggots at Katya, and she collapses. Yavin casts cloudburst, which washes off the maggots from Katya and keeps one of the maggot creatures from reforming for a round.They finally kill the remaining creatures, and after tending to their downed party members, they talk to the couatl. He says that once he leaves, the temporal effect will end. But they explain about their friend stuck in the sepia snake sigil. Not wanting any innocents to suffer, he goes to free Hamish and brings him to them. He also directs them to take any of the ancient tablets and small gems strewn about the room. The tablets are spells.
The couatl instructs them to remain in the room. He ascends and disappears, and the building starts to crumble. The top opens up, and they see him now as an ascended being. He says “I can offer you little, but I give you the thanks of the gods of Torsh.” If any of them choose, they may become creatures of Torsh. Sabrina accepts the offer to remove the curse of horsemouth. Remort also accepts. They all have the blessing of Torsh, which means the native, non-intelligent creatures will leave them alone while they are here (but only until they leave). Further, any couatl they meet will recognize them as heroes of the these gods and treat the characters with respect.
When Sabrina awakes, she insists that she is a K’Thoi princess.
It’s been about three years now. Yavin contacts Borlon telepathically. He thought they were dead and is extremely surprised to hear from them. He teleports them all back to Old Nichefall.
