Heroes (Idky, Yavin, Athos, Artec, Katya, Hamish, Sabrina, Ishmopah, and Kinsa) continue to fight for their lives deep within the ancient stone pyramid on Torsh...
Dagaru wakes up Yavin by slashing open the cleric's forehead, promptly triggering Yavin to start screaming hysterically once he sees the black fog forming through the dimensional gap. Artec and Hamish prepare to take on the ten juju zombies. Ishmopah joins Katya to deal with the creature of chaos coalescing. The summoner casts sever at the creature. Sabrina and Kinsa move forward to get ready for the zombies. But the loremaster suggests that the witch might be more helpful elsewhere, so Kinsa starts slapping Yavin to bring him to his senses. Amazingly, it works.
The sever also works! The being partially materializes within the Prime reality, but not completely. Ishmopah starts in on the chaos creature. Idky moves over the offer him the benefit of his 10’ protection from chaos. The creature isn’t changing shape. Katya casts conjured sword and Idky drops an aid on her. The creature’s arms morph into Ishmopah’s arms, and it claws him. Ishmopah finds he’s no longer able to damage the creature, so Katya and Idky start attacking it. Ishmopah runs to help out Sabrina.
Sabrina (who still can detect invisibility), points down the hall and exclaims “Look over there!” Suddenly, Idky, Kinsa (and Dagaru), Hamish, Katya, and Sabrina are stunned and collapse from some mental attack. Only Yavin, Ishmopah, and Artec are left standing. Yavin starts engaging in psionic combat with mystery assailant.
Meanwhile, the chaos creature now turns into a creature of acid and starts splashing acid around the room. Fortunately, it also hits the juju zombies. Another psionic blast stuns Artec and the chaos creature. Idky recovers and helps with the zombies. Yavin also joins in. Another psi blast stuns Idky and Ishmopah and resets the stuns on some others (including the chaos creature). Now Yavin is the only one standing, against two remaining juju zombies and the unseen psionic creature. Another psi blast takes him out as well.
Kinsa and Idky recover and stand up. Artec gets picked up telekinetically and floats down the passage. Idky looks down the passageway and sees a maw made of flesh and surrounded by tentacles. Idky grabs Artec and manages to just exceed the creature’s weight limit and stops him from being dragged away. Kinsa starts attacking the zombies. The creature psi blasts again, stunning Idky and Kinsa. Ishmopah and Katya recover. Ishmopah starts on the zombies.
Artec start floating down the hallway again. Yavin recovers, moves over, puts up tower of iron will, and mind thrusts the creature (successfully!). Ishmopah finishes off the zombies and runs to grab Artec to the floor. Katya attacks the stunned chaos creature and kills it with her conjured sword. She screams out “Don’t touch another fucking door!”
Ishmopah and Artec get attacked by the tentacled creature. Ishmopah goes down and starts getting pulled into the maw. Katya starts attacking the tentacle on Ishmopah. She severs the one on Ishmopah. Unfortunately, the creature psi blasts again and stuns Katya, Idky, Kinsa, and Sabrina. Hamish recovers and rips into the creature along with Artec. Another psi blast stuns Kinsa, Artec, and Hamish. It also pierces Yavin’s last mental defense. So he runs to attack the now badly-wounded creature. Katya gets tentacled while she’s stunned. She also gets popped into the monster's mouth and it starts chewing her. Yavin lands the killing blow with his flaming sword, saving Katya in the nick of time.
The creature looks like a giant tadpole. It reminds Yavin of a giant mind flayer head without a body. It had placed itself in the passageway.They stay put in the passageway to rest up and heal until the next morning.
Eeps: 3380 (except Athos)
The next morning, a man shows up and identifies himself as Remort. He explains that he was sent by Borlon to look for the party. According to him, the party has been gone for approximately four months. As soon as Remort sees the dead psionic creature behind the party, he gets very concerned. It is the result of an illithid tadpole that never finds a hope but eats a sentient brain--a neothelid.
Restored to near full strength, the group does a bit of quick reconnaissance. Around the corner to the right they see a warm glow. To the left they see what appear to be pacing translucent panthers, horses, giant walking birds, flying sharks, etc. The room with the glow has a pool of water in it that appears to have a glowing object at the bottom of it. Skulls litter the entire room, mostly on the side with the panthers. They also see massive birds with strange horses with wings. They also see massive beetles. All ghostly and translucent. A blackened mirror at the back seems to be “eating” some of the light from the other side.
Remort tosses a light stone into the side of the room with the images. The images stop and look around. Idky casts true seeing and finds out that the mirror is a damaged one-way portal to 12 worlds. Idky turns Katya invisible and she is able to inactivate the portal. They then go to the pool and Idky sees that it is the pool of wisdom (thanks to comprehend languages).
Each of the heroes dips into the pool and some get positive effects. Hamish and Katya are able to project the light of reason from their orifices. Sabrina gains a point of wisdom. Yavin and Idky receive some benefit that they are unable to share with the rest of the party, as it reflects inner wisdom.
