The heroes (Urthur, Galen, Keakani w/Omaoma'o, Hagar, Vinato, and Kahana) sail to where the heroes had seen the smoke rising from the cliffs before. As the sun gets low, the party comes upon a tiny beach with a single, crude hut and a small, foreign boat. The group comes ashore and is challenged by a foreign wizard and his two 8' long sentient insect allies. Soon, however, many islanders also attempt to protect the pale foreigner.
The wizard becomes impatient and attacks the party with a color spray which drops Kahana. Keakani uses sleep to take the villagers out, though Urthur is forced to break one's jaw. The rest of the group attempt to take out the wizard and bugs, though Galen does use his mind powers to keep first one and then the other inset from remembering the nature of the battle. In the end, no villagers but one is harmed but the foreign wizard and both thri-kree are slain.
The group learns that not everyone was taken against their will and many are awaiting payment in the form of a glow stone. The bulk of the foreign party is attempting to capture of hippogriff in order to fly back to the "Inner Islands" for help in the form of another ship. One other skiff survived the initial larger vessel, but no one knows where that group went.
The heroes spend two full days and part of a third waiting for the other party. When they finally arrive, they are tired and battered, but have no hippogriff. The two groups agree to work together. The next day, five wyvern attack and many of the foreign sailors die in the battle. The heroes leave the carcasses on the beach and sharks begin to feed...for hours. That night, the light of the continual light sentries goes out and sahuaghin attack!
The heroes put up a fierce fight and the foreign sailors largely help. Many islanders are killed as are all of the ship-wrecked group except Captain Snake Eyes, Bloody Bjorn, and the Weather-Witch, Ketah. The party also nearly dies, but manages to kill both leaders plus eight other sea-devils, wound seven more and sleep four others. Some spell casting sahuaghin, however, uses spells from the water and aids in the creatures' escape.
In the morning, the heroes realize that their outrigger was ruined. Luckily, the foreign vessel remains. Barely alive, the group decides to sail back to Tanaroa. The only problem is that the skiff only holds ten and there are 13 survivors, including the villagers. Kahana, Urthur, and Galen elect to stay behind. The scout uses her skill at mountaineering to camp on the bluffs and Ketah turns the two Queenslanders invisible. They pass a restless and nervous night.
Late the next day, shortly before sundown on the 9th, the skiff returns...
