The heroes (Urthur, Galen, Rongo, Keakani w/Omaoma'o, Saytang, Hagar, Vinato, Aiden, and Ulfrik) sail to Mora where the Chief explains four women and one man were taken by foreigners in a boat "with a cloud about that defied the wind." The heroes spent the night before traveling on to Tanaroa, the chief village of the islands. In Tanaroa, Rongo met with the head shaman, Kamu'a. The two discussed the missing people as well as the wounded party members. Later, Kamu'a managed to heal Galen's leg, asking in exchange for the group to "pacify" the jungle just on the other side of the Great Wall.
The next morning, the group did just that, seeking any sort of troublesome creature or threat to the villages, but even though they returned shortly after sunset, the party did not find a single monster. True to his word, Kamu'a tried to heal Aiden's back, but the injury was too several even for Io's greatest shaman. Urthur made a comment that "Blackrobe could fix that...what? He can! He can even walk between worlds!" but the outburst didn't help. For her part, Keakani spoke with Tikal, the Zombie Master of Tanaroa, but the two had very little common ground.
The next morning, the group sailed back to Mora to find the missing villagers. Kamu'a had explained that a foreign ship with a "wind witch" on it had come into port a few days before. The strangers had asked for canoe builders and mountain climbers, leaving with several. The shaman is now concerned that the strangers may have taken the villagers against their will, asking the party to investigate...
The following morning, well prepared, the heroes sailed out from Mora just before dawn and made the heart of the great coral reef by midday. Ulfrik fell overboard off the reef and nearly drown, but Satang saved the rune caster. Unfortunately, while the islander avoided the local sea snakes, Ulfrik did not. Only Rongo's slow poison saved Ulfrik from a painful death. The heroes sailed on to the far point of the great island, located a massive wrecked ship, truly a "house on the water." Most of the party investigated the wreckage, finding only signs of battle, but no one alive. Meanwhile, Rongo tried to concoct an antidote for the venom. Unfortunately, without access to the jungles, the shaman was blocked. The group continued sailing northward as the sun dropped low in the sky, climbing ashore at a tiny, rocky excuse for a beach where Rongo managed some sleep in an outrigger while the rest of the party stood watch, unable to even sit out of the water.
Rongo continued to use his magics to hold the poison coursing through Ulfrik in abeyance. The two vessels cut across the straights and headed back to Tanaroa. En route, the group met first eight lizard men, five of which they managed to kill. Later, the outriggers were mildly molested by a school of bull sharks. Urthur and Satang saved Galen and the group reached Tanaroa just after sunset. Kamu'a saved the rune caster but made the man swear a life-debt to the shaman.
The following morning, requiped the party followed their same path in reverse, this time heading northward along the coast beyond the Great Wall using a war outrigger. The group beached the craft just at the edge of the jungles, before the coast becomes impenetrable mountains. Urthur, Galen, and Satang noted lizard man prints and the group headed out to deal with the monsters. On route, a dryad took interest in Galen, but the heroes slaughtered her after she charmed the jedi. Ulfrik then used her wooden body for a source of material for runic carvings...
The heroes found and entered a large lizard man lair. Urthur and Hagar were caught in a net, but Satang nibbly lept clear and fought the creatures. Meanwhile more lizard men and then giant crocodiles attacked from the rear. The heroes fought quite valiantly, Keakani's sleep spells taking out many foes while Hagar assumed boar-form and Urthur and Satang simply slaughtered. In the end three lizard man shaman arrived, having healed one of the crocodiles. The party slew the monster and two of the three shaman, but were forced to flee before they could thoroughly search the camp.
Overnight, a five-headed hydra attacked the encampment above the sea. Rongo, Ulfrik, Aiden, Urthur, and Satang managed to slay the beast, even though it kept growing new heads. In the morning, the rune caster recovered from his new injuries and carved more limb-runes to heal himself and the rest of the group back to full strength.
