Lieutenant Garlok Drake has been leading a strike mission at Iuz's fortress at the Fortress of Badabaskor. The first raid was on 616 / 7 / 24 and latest on 616 / 7 / 28. On the last one, Garlok, Timrith, Kyron (and Dart), Artec, Ael'Mara, Pandora, and Kenmu had finished off all of the first two levels of the fortress plus part of the outer courtyard and were doing well in the first true "sub-level", including killing five red dragons. The group gathered the dragons' main loot and left through the dragons' hunting tunnel. Iuz has lost his main "artillery" as well as most of his demons. If we can finish off his clerical commanders, the fortress will fall quickly.
Unfortunately, once we got home, Malok and TC joined us to figure out what the magical treasure we found were. We did manage to come back with FOUR magic rings as well as cool cloak, a +3 defender, a diamond of spell turning and some other loot. Unfortunately, one was cursed and it transformed Malok into a unicorn. TC cast alternate reality, but that merely shifted him into a werewolf. But that's not all. The cube then transformed Pandora into a fox-hengeyokai, Timrith into a sphinx, Kenmu into a manticora, and Ael'Mara into a half-efreet. The cube tried to get Artec, but he was wearing the diamond, so the effect fizzled out.
The heroes put down Malok and ultimately will have to sepia snake him for his own safety if we can't figure some cure out. He seems to be stuck in beast form and very willing to kill his own family and friends! Pandora, meanwhile, slipped away and hasn't been seen since. Since his mission isn't yet finished, Garlok had to return to his command post to contain the forces at Badabaskor, taking Timmy with him. On the bright side, Timmy seems largely unaffected, since brass dragons and sphinxes share most of their basic skills (claw/claw/bite, flight, talking, no hands, etc). Kenmu has more trouble and is staying in Dragondale at the moment. Ael'Mara is thinking about retiring for a while to raise one of the red dragon eggs that the group found. And Kyron likewise has a teenage hippogriff on his hands. Artec's new mount, however, a jet black medium warhorse that's extremely smart, isn't taking the archer's attention much.
Oh, and Rhanée and Moorak have both tried to remove curse to no affect. This appears to be one of those curses that requires a POWERFUL spellcaster to lift...
So, a) next move for the party? anyone up to try again? Garlok needs to if we wants to leave his post anytime before the war's end. Timrith the sphinx is curious to try out his new abilities. Kyron could join for a short raid, but between his pregnant wife and new-mount-in-training, would have to limit his involvement. Rhanée is thinking about giving the Prince a hand as is his twin. Maybe Goldilox...? Zarabell? Darya? Artec? Kenmu? Ael'Mara is out, even for a short run now. Malok is out of things for his own safety (we can put him in an avoidance cage for now...)
B) what about Pandora? Does anyone want to do anything about her leaving?
C) other ideas to lift the curse or even find out more about it?

I think clerics of Athena get Reflecting Pool...Arianna would like to try and find Pandora that way. Also, Arianna has that mirror from the Lich...I believe it allowed clerics to use it. She would try and find Pandora with that too. If she's truly not Pandor anymore, then Arianna would request assistance from Moorak, specifically asking what types of magic could find someone who has been "altered" in this manner?
Now, Arianna (nor I) knows NOTHING about hengeyokai....is there anyone in Amberwood or nearby regions who may know something about this type of creature? Arianna can polymorph herself twice a day, so she could perhaps fly somewhere to get assistance.
The Temple will be on "lock-down" and on alert for her until we know more. [passwords to secret glyphs will be changed and re-done, etc...] If Xena is around w/ Bronwyn, we'll have the dragon keep her nose at the ready!
In addition, Arianna would like to use a Commune spell to ask the following:
1) Can Pandora's curse be lifted with a combination of remove curse and/or dispel magic cast by someone of my [Arianna's]rank (10th level)? [just because Moorak and Rhenee failed, doesn't mean they didn't just roll poorly...]
2) Can Pandora's curse be lifted with a combination of remove curse and/or dispel magic cast by someone of [insert name of toughest cleric of Athena on Amazonia...Thetis??] rank?
[As for dispel magic and remove curse, I know there is a specific order to cast these spells in order to remove a curse, but I , the player cannot remember the appropriate order....Arianna would confer with Rhenee and/or Moorak to ensure she has the order of spells correct before asking in the Commune. ]
Other possible questions, depending on the responses above...and depending on what information Moorak or Rhenee may want...basically if I can get answers to help everyone who was changed, that's what she would do...she isn't the 'brightest' and would ask for assistance on the phrasing of the questions, to ensure she is clear.
3) Left on her own, will Pandora revert to herself again after a specific length of time?
4) Does this curse put those affected under the control of any powerful entrity that will be able to force them to do its bidding?? [in other words, are they now puppets for the EEG or this god of insanity, or the demon Bazozo, etc...]
5) Will this curse have more severe affects to the individuals afftected as time passes?
There is probably more that can be done, but I can't think of it right now...also, if anyone has suggestions for other commune questions, let me know.

Ah, EXCELLENT, Kari!
Here goes...
Yes, I believe you are correct. Athena grants greater divination, so both reflecting pool and magic font are fine. Unfortunately, you're also correct that Pandora is no longer the woman you knew (quite literally!) and therefore the spell has a MUCH less chance of success (read: we'll have to roll it out).
Moorak is a little tied up with a number of other issues, but places Rhanée and Robyndella at your disposal (*grumble*). He's actually more concerned about his son's sanity right now (Malok is LG but his werewolf form is CE...that's gotta be bad for ANYONE!).
Rhanée did know a hegeyokai cat early in her adventuring career. She says that they are generally sneaky and self-serving, but not prone to bloody-furies, tied to the cycles of the moons, or infectous. Beyond that, no one in Amberwood has much knowledge of "Kara-Turan lycanthropes". Pehaps Chastity might have more info (note that despite religious differences, Rhanée seems to get along well with Chastity)?
Xena and Bronwyn (as well as Garlok, Mina, Caeleia, Rhom, Anastasia, Chastity, and Tony) are fighting in the war and not "at home" (wherever that it). Moorak, Damelia, and Exvyn SHOULD be there, but as lords themselves, they may remain in their lands to defend them and send others in their stead. Technically, Caeleia had this option too, but her lands are actually shielded from Iuz' forces by her brother's and he can easily respond to threats to Angel's Rock while she leads the armies of Furyondy into battle!
1) NO!
2) Not yet (it's Paulla; Thetis is the Queen) -- Moorak, Rhanée and Robyndella (yes, Robyn) would confer with you. According to them, the answer is it really depends on the effect you're removing. Actually, this is an area of Malok's expertise, but he's too busy trying to kill his family right now...
3) Not likely -- Moorak would want you to ask, based on this and other answers, "is this one of those curses that is powerful at first, but winds down slowly over time?" as well as "do the actions of the cursed affect the duration or outcome of the curse?"
4) No
5) No

On 616 / 8 / 2 Garlok (and Timirth the Androsphinx), Artec, Pandora (the kitsune/fox-hengeyokai), Zarabell, Kenmu (the manticora), Rhanée (and Zauloman), T.C., Andorallan, Mang, and Saanau re-entered the fortress. Using Rhanée's magic mirror, the group appeared at the stairs to the first dungeon level, where they quickly slaughtered about 60 orcs, 2 ogres, and a bar-llgura. The group then searched most of the first dungeon level (the third level of the adventure) and narrowly defeated the psionic attacks of a babau, survived an ambush by 8 bar-llgura (complete with multiple spectral force lightning bolts, and finally finished up killing four gargoyles, 9 skeletons, and 8 zombies as well as three priests. The priests died in a particularly striking one...well...double-strike/storm. That is, Zarabell flame struck them, then Rhanée flame struck them again, and to finish 'em off, T.C. dropped an ice storm on the lot. The heroes grabbed the surviving loot as well as the priests' heads and mirrored home.

*chuckle* Well, Jeff, if you would like, I ABSOLUTELY welcome you to give us a full description of the game. Sorry, I cut it short cuz on you; I just don't see it as a core-game. And you're right, taking on an ambush by eight bar-llgura without anyone dying was quite cool).

What a great game idea, AndyElf! A quest for Iuz' colon! Let's see, in addition to a CRAP LOAD of orcs and a SHIT LOAD of demons, there could be turd golems, diarrhea slimes, and ex-partners (aren't they all assholes?)...

Someone needs to start singing the 'Lemmywinks' song. I have a feeling that as nasty as Mr. Slave's colon was, Iuz' would be far worse.

[glow=red,2,300]Update to Furyondy's (heroes') siege against the Fortress of Badabaskor[/glow] After a fierce assault on 616/8/3 by Captain Garlok Drake of Amberwood, his brass dragon companion Timrith, General Artec Artlen of Amberwood, Saint Kate the Hungry, Pandora of Athena, Zarabell Finelock, Ken Mu, Princess Robyndella Drake of Amberwood, and Triella Celeste the Wild Card, the forces of Old Wicked suffered a terrible blow. The heroes penetrated deep into the fourth level of the fortress, where then battled a few orcs, orogs, and humans before encountering the Cambion Baron, Angall of the Void, and his two babau minions. The babau almost immediately dropped the majority of the heroes in a pair of psionic blasts. Meanwhile, Angall himself took his four arms to strike eight time at Kate! For a few exchanges, the heroes stayed on their feet, TC even managing to get an improved doomblade onto Kate's enchanted axe of demon-slaying. Unfortunately, the Demonslayer only got one swing before Angall KILLED her. The few remaining heroes on their feet shifted so that Zarabell could use her elixir of health to save Kate, while TC and Kenmu held off babau and Pandora was Angall's target. Kate survived, but Ken Mu and Pandora were both cut down. Zarabell was no match for Angall and teleported back to Dragondale for help. That left just TC, who immediately surrendered while still cloaked in her protection from evil spell.
Angall and the babau ordered the now-dryad to fall to her belly and remove her magical items. As she complied, Angall moved forward and began hacking at Garlok's stunned body. TC threw herself in the way, nearly getting killed. Angall chuckled and then hacked at Artec with his other four arms. As the Cambion shifted his attention to Robyndella, TC grabbed her friend and dimension doored to safety. But, despite their TERRIBLE wounds, this bought Artec, Garlok, Timrith and Kate (now at full strength thanks to a second elixir of health) the time they needed to get back on their feet.
Thanks to Kate's broach of unnoticeability, the Demonslayer was able to land a staggering blow before Angall of the Void could react. Artec peppered the demons with arrows while Garlok and Timrith each took on a babau. Amazingly, the heroes triumphed, with Saint Kate destroying Angall. The group used an elixir of life to restore Ken Mu and then fled, just as Zarabell's reinforcements arrived.
The next day (616/8/4), another force, this time with Captain Garlok Drake of Amberwood, his brass dragon companion Timrith, General Artec Artlen of Amberwood, Saint Kate the Hungry, Zarabell Finelock, Triella Celeste the Wild Card, Rhanée StrongArm of Bahamut, Zandra, and Tony assaulted the Fortress on last time. The group quickly encountered (and defeated, despite a symbol of fear panicking Artec, Tony, and Timrith) a balrog, two marilith, and two nalfashnee, all of which they slaughtered!
Then, continuing on, the group encountered another unique demon, a giant hill troll, as well as a room full of ghouls, wights, wraiths, mummies, and spectres! In the midst of this battle, three gold golems attacked from one side passage along with three priests of Iuz, then 11 more priests attacked from another side passage. Just when things looked bleak, after Timirth roared as an androsphinx and feared most of the priests but also Zarabell, Rhanée, and Zandra, The high priest of Old Wicked's forces, a 17th lvl cleric, arrived and cast vampiric fog as four more wraiths, a spectre, and four rutterkin attacked!
Kate, Artec, TC, and Tony were fighting in the mist while Garlok and Artec fought one gold golem and Timirth battled the remaining priests. Zauloman was desperately trying to get out of combat after being hit twice by a spectre while Rhanée was simply a victim and Zandra was being drained by the fog. Amazingly, the feared heroes found the edge of the cloud and escaped. Kate slowly cut down each of her foes, until only a gold golem was left blocking her path to the High Priest. Artec came up to support her, but a harm via a spectral hand from the high priest gave The Archer pause. Tony charged in to help, but after the vampiric mist, one hit from the main priest dropped the Greek, but not before he had removed the last underpriest. That's when Artec and the gold golem fell.
Kate faced the High Priest, but was wounded while he was relatively unhurt after all the strength he had drained through the vampiric fog. That's when Zauloman showed up, having found a way around the fog. The badly-drained copper dragon attacked, drawing the priests attention away enough to prevent him from casting a spell on Kate so the Demonslayer could engage him physically. Joined by Timrith and Garlok, Kate finally chopped the cleric down, removing his head.
The heroes gathered Rhanée (still panicked!) into a bag of holding and TC used a potion of teleportation to teleport back to Dragondale where Arianna removed fear. Then the High Priestess of Bahamut opened her mirror of mental prowess and the heroes evacuated the fortress...
...but not before Kate left a note in the main temple, scrawled in the high priest's blood, for the forces of Old Wicked to leave Badabaskor or join their commander (Angall) and high priest in death...!
So it was, before dawn on 616/8/5 the forces of Furyondy recaptured a deserted fortress at Badabaskor...
